A 1998 Drama written and directed by Eugene Brady that follows a young man (Hill Harper) and the difficulties he faces for being biracial.

The movie also stars Donal Mc Cann, Pierce Brosnan, Aislin Mc Guckin, Niall Toibin, Sinead Cusack, Phelim Drew, Luke Griffin, and Tony Rohr.

It was released on August 28, 1998.


Tropes for the film:

  • The City vs. the Country: Chad is an American teenager moving from New York to a remote and conservative Irish island. After clashing with his uncle he decides to go back to America but eventually is convinced to stay.
  • Intimate Haircut: The movie does this, along with Important Haircut. Aisling cuts off Chad's dreadlocks in a very intimate scene.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: The plot is about an African-American young man going to live with his Irish uncle after his mother's death. It's later revealed that his mother was in a forbidden relationship with another man called Joe Brady note  and moved to America to escape her family's persecution. It's later discovered that she sent several letters to Joe, but her brother kept them.
  • Tagline: "They're worlds apart, but closer than anyone could believe.
