Hell has no fury... like a woman transformed.

The Demolitionist is a 1995 American science fiction action film.

After all firearms are forbidden in an unnamed city, it descends into chaos. At the helm of this is "Mad Dog" Burne, a homicidal maniac out to assassinate the mayor. After undercover cop Alyssa Lloyd gives the police information necessary to thwart his first attempt, Burne finds her out and leaves her for dead after a game of Russian Roulette. However, she's given a second chance via becoming a cyborg crimefighter, and proceeds to go on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge.

This film contains examples of:

  • '90s Anti-Hero: The title character is a ruthless, revived and bio-modified woman with Guns Akimbo fragging anyone who gets in the way of her quest for vengeance against those who killed her.
  • Asshole Victim: When robbing a bank, Mad Dog executes a random man to prove he's serious. What he didn't know was the guy was perving on a little girl not five seconds beforehand.
  • Attempted Rape: Some thugs try to rape Alyssa (in disguise) in an alley, but she simply lets them rip off her dress to reveal her Demolitionist uniform and promptly demolishes them.
  • Big Bad: "Mad Dog" Burne, a psychopathic criminal plotting to assassinate the mayor and take over the city through blood and fire.
  • The Cameo: Bruce Campbell appears as a gang member, however he is not mentioned in the credits.
  • Dirty Cop: The chief of police is on Mad Dog's payroll, and promises to give him all the confiscated weapons in the city if he lets him be an equal business partner.
  • Do Wrong, Right: Mad Dog kills one of his men for stealing from him, but then states that anybody who does is fine so long as they don't get caught.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Mad Dog is shown to be enraged when his brother is killed in a prison break.
  • Faking the Dead: After killing Mad Dog, Alyssa and her creator fake her death so she can live a normal life, or at least relatively normal if she needs the daily shots.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Mad Dog's brother takes immense glee in electrocuting the Warden and the priest after they escape execution, causing the two victims to void their bowels. Just as Mad Dog decides it's time to leave, his brother insists on throwing the switch again, but fails to realize he's standing in a puddle of piss, which the current travels through, killing him.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: Crowley programmed Alyssa to be able to hit perfect targets from absurd distances, especially since in life she was only trained with tasers.
  • Nanomachines: Alyssa is kept alive by nanomachines that constantly heal her body. However, she needs a daily injection to not decompose.
  • Never Gets Drunk: Alyssa can't get drunk because the nanomachines in her blood process it too quickly.
  • Protagonist Title
  • Redemption Rejection: Mad Dog's Establishing Character Moment is refusing a priest's last rites right before he's supposed to be executed.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Alyssa briefly leaves a bomb in a child's hand so she can pursue Mad Dog. This fills her with remorse and causes the mayor to order her shut down, but her creator gives her 2 last doses (one in the injector and one directly) of nanomachines so she can finish off Mad Dog for good.
  • Shot in the Ass: The Demolitionist finally finds Mad Dog after shooting a goon in the ass with a Tracking Device.
  • Sleazy Politician: The mayor only authorizes the Lazarus Project because her approval rates are dropping and she wants to exploit the publicity her crimefighting will bring for reelection. The fact that Alyssa's undercover work literally saves her from the assassination attempt probably helped too.
  • Villain Opening Scene: "Mad Dog" Burne escaping from prison.
