A 1986 low-budget thriller written and directed by Barry Peak that has a reporter looking into a series of deaths and soon links them to a scientist.

The movie stars David Bradshaw, Lian Lunson, Simon Chilvers, John Ewart, Nick Waters, Alan Cassell, and Alethea Mc Grath.

Tropes for the film:

  • Cigarette Burns: Price is investigating why several people tortured themselves to death, including a woman dubbed The Human Ashtray by reporters. Turns out a Government Conspiracy to develop chemically-induced Mind Control has Gone Horribly Wrong, causing the test subjects to invert pain and pleasure.
  • Mad Scientist's Beautiful Daughter: Lisa enlists Price to prove her research scientist father was murdered by a Government Conspiracy. It turns out that her father is very much alive and part of the conspiracy, to develop a mind-control drug, and she ends up killing him for real. Ironically Lisa has herself spent time in a mental institution, diagnosed as paranoid for insisting her father was murdered.
  • People Jars: The movie ends with Price confronting the people behind a Government Conspiracy to develop a mind-control drug in a laboratory with nude women trapped inside glass cylinders filled with water and kept alive by scuba-style breathing apparatus.
  • Tagline: "There's a fine line between pleasure and pain. Alan Price is about to cross that line".
