Hatched is a British Dinosaur Horror Movie by Scott Jeffrey and Rebecca Matthews.
The movie follows a family of four: Husband Bernard (Richard Kovacs), Wife Jocelyn (Georgie Banks), and sisters Caitlyn (Megan Purvis) and Luna (Nicole Abi), as they go to visit their relatives, Simon (Thomas Loone) and his wife Christine (Amanda-Jade Tyler). They've been having a rough time since their son Mark died a year ago, and Bernard isn't keen on going to them again. Still, family is family, and they can't just abandon them. So, off they go.
However, upon getting there, they discover the house is empty. No sign of Simon or Christine anywhere. There ARE, however, dinosaurs (to be precise, a T-Rex and two raptors) on the property. And for some reason Mark (Marshall Hawke) is there alive and well. Now they'll need to find a way to get out of this situation alive.
The movie was released on July 6th, 2021.
Hatched contains examples of:
- Asshole Victim: Sergeant Fletcher, seeing as he was so unwilling to let the family leave the house. He even killed Bernard when the guy tried to stand up to him.
- Big "NO!": Mark lets one out after seeing Simon get Eaten Alive by the T-Rex.
- Blood from the Mouth: Mark starts coughing up handfuls of blood in the middle of the movie.
- Bloody Handprint: Part of one can be seen on the phone in Simon and Christine's house.
- The Cavalry: Some military soldiers show up in time to save the family from one of the raptors by gunning it down.
- Eaten Alive: The T-Rex does this to Simon, Luna, and a couple of soldiers.
- Foreboding Fleeing Flock: A variant on this trope, anyway. When the T-Rex makes its first onscreen appearance walking out of some trees, a flock of birds can be seen flying away on the right of the screen.
- Handgun: These come into play once the military arrives.
- My Car Hates Me: When Jocelyn and Caitlyn are attempting to escape in the car, they come across a dead end. When they decide to turn it around, they find the car won't start.
- One-Word Title: Hatched, naturally.
- Raptor Attack: There are stated to be two raptors on the property. They claim the lives of Christine at the beginning of the movie, and Sergeant Fletcher.
- Replacement Goldfish: Mark, who is actually a rapidly-aged clone of the original Mark, who passed away a year before the events of the film, and whos death spurred Simon to look into DNA research in hopes of getting him back.
- Screaming Woman: Christine lets loose a scream of terror when she sees the raptor, which prompts it to kill her.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: The people who sent Simon some dinosaur fossils to study. Thanks to that fossil, Simon managed to create some dinosaurs.
