Grandmother's Farm is a Horror Comedy movie from The United Arab Emirates by Ahmed Zain.
Yasser (Yaser Al-Neyadi) is a young seemingly-perpetually-angry man who brings his friends Ramsi (Abdullah Alramsi), Khalid (Khalid Al Nuaimi), Abdulla (Abdulla Al Hemairi), and Saeed (Saeed Alsheryani) to his family farm so they can have a good time together as friends. When they get there, they do indeed have a fun time. However, by night, their intended feast disappears, and Ramsi is quickly blamed for it. Plus, Khalid went off to pick up some girls he met in town, and took Yasser's car, much to Yasser's chagrin.
Any actual horror comes LATE in the movie. The movie has a sequel, Grandmother's Farm 2.
The movie was released on December 10th, 2013.
Grandmother's Farm contains examples of:
- Bookworm: Abdulla. He's always reading a book about people in a castle on his iPad.
- Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: Yasser finds Abdullah sitting in the chicken coop unresponsive at one point. He slaps him to bring him out of it, and seems to cause something really freaky to happen.
- Kind Restraints: At the end of the movie, Saeed and Mr. Murshid tie up Yasser to try and stop him from convulsing.
- My Car Hates Me: When the three girls Khalid met at the convenience store see him on the road, they note how creepily he looks at them and try to drive away... only the car won't start until one of them gets in his car and leaves with him.
- Off-into-the-Distance Ending: The book ends with everyone driving off in a white van into the distance.
- The Place: The place is never really referred to as Yassir's Grandmother's farm, but it certainly is that.
- Shout-Out:
- Abdulla is seen watching Devil on TV once.
- Abdulla is once compared to Paulo Coelho.
- Later on, Abdulla and Ramsi are watching Tom and Jerry.
- Token Religious Teammate: Saeed. He often prays for protection.
