Good Manners (As Boas Maneiras) is a 2017 Dark Fantasy Horror film.

A young woman named Clara volunteers as a housekeeper and nanny for wealthy soon-to-be-mother Ana. As the two bond, Clara realizes that Ana's pregnancy has supernatural connections and vows to protect the beast that is birthed on a fateful full moon night.

This film provides examples of:

  • Alternate Identity Amnesia: Joel has little to no recollection of his actions as a wolf and somehow doesn't connect the dots on the exact reason he has to be locked in a cell every full moon night (suggesting he doesn't even know he is a werewolf, or if he does, he doesn't think he's dangerous). He only realizes the reasons when he is at the dance with Amanda, just a little too late.
  • Bolivian Army Ending: Clara convinces wolf-Joel to not attack her, and they both prepare to fight off the angry mob as Joel lets out a determined howl. Smash to Black. Cue end credits.
  • Censored Child Death: We don't actually see Joel eating Maurício, as it's cut with a shot of the full moon followed by Clara and Dona Amélia waiting for Joel to come home soon after. All we do know of how it went was that, according to a news broadcast the next morning, there was blood everywhere with no trace of a body, most likely not even bones.
  • Cranky Landlord: Dona Amélia is first seen revealed to have stolen Clara's clothes just because she hasn't paid the rent yet, and later on feeds a steak to Joel even though Clara kept telling her that he was allergic to meat.
    • That being said, rather than kill Joel upon discovering his lycanthropy, Dona Amélia instead tries calling a priest in an attempt to lift his curse. That also being said, Clara isn't taking any risks.
  • Chest Burster: Joel is first fully seen tearing out of Ana's stomach as she gives birth to him.
  • Death by Childbirth: Ana gruesomely dies giving birth to Joel.
  • Death of a Child: First-grader Maurício is all-but-outright-stated-to-have-been killed and eaten by wolf-Joel.
  • Eaten Alive: All that remains of Maurício after Joel transforms and chases him through the closed mall is his blood.
  • I Have No Son!: Ana reveals that when she decided to keep the baby, her father severed all ties with her and the rest of the family similarly stopped talking to her.
  • Maternal Death? Blame the Child!: Defied. Clara initially considers abandoning the newborn Joel as she is upset over Ana's death, but goes against it upon hearing his cries and becomes a loving adoptive mother to him.
  • Never Found the Body: A mall employee in the news report following the closed mall incident tells that they found several puddles and spots of blood in the elevator and on the ceiling, but was unable to find the body. This strongly suggests that Maurício was completely devoured, bones and all.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Joel starts off as a gentle and compliant boy, if only a bit let down by the fact he can't go outside on full moon nights. The moment after Dona Amélia feeds him a steak, he becomes much more curious with Clara's possessions and when he discovers a picture of Ana, is much more assertive and confrontational to the point he transforms while arguing with Clara.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: Lycanthropy is completely hereditary in this story, though it seems all the other classic werewolf tropes are in full effect. Werewolves also retain elongated nails and excess hair when transforming back, which becomes a problem as Dona Amélia sees an unconscious Joel right after a full moon and quickly realizes what he is.
  • Painful Transformation: Joel is noticeably in pain during his transformations, with agonized cries and cracking bones.
  • Torches and Pitchforks: When Amanda comes to them in a panic after wolf-Joel nearly attacks her, the townsfolk form an angry mob to hunt Joel and Clara down, using glowsticks from the festival to light their way.
  • Womb Horror: Ana's experience proves that being pregnant with a werewolf is not pleasant. She has monthly sleepwalking episodes along with horrible cramping, said sleepwalking episodes give her a thirst for flesh and blood, and the birth has her stomach rupture, killing her.
  • Would Hurt a Child: The attendees of the dance seem to have no qualms in hunting down and presumably killing a seven-year-old boy. Granted, a werewolf that already ate one kid and injured another, but still a little boy.
