Velvet Wing is a Sword Art Online fanfic series by Velvet Sparrow. Despite the name, this page covers everything about the Velvet Wing series.
The series mainly takes place from the perspective of Shigeru Nomura aka Nomeru, a Beta tester who revels in the power he has in the game. There are a few other OC's, but they mostly reside as supporting cast members. Aside from SAO, the fic has two main influneces, Sword Art Online Abridged and Joker 32223's The Bitter Reaper

Tropes in Velvet Wing include:
- Adaptational Villainy: Coper, who in the original series was a minor obstacle to Kirito, becomes a full on antagonist. He is now a member of Laughing Coffin and possesses a much more sadistic and nihilistic personality than his main series counterpart.
- Fix Fic: As a way to fill in the plot holes that Reki Kawahara left in, this includes less time skips and floor jumps, as well as explaining Kayaba's reason for locking the players in the game. Spoilers, it's because of metacritic
- Jerkass: Shigeru, since he's pretty much Abridged Kirito if he was played by Joker from Persona 5 with a dash of Travis Touchdown thrown in
- Shut Up, Hannibal!: Quoted word for word by Shigure during Rosalia's "First year psych-student bullshit" speech
- Title Drop: The eponymus guild is named after the café owned by Shigeru's mother
