- Amazon Chaser: Many of the traits Peyton likes about Leshawna are Amazonian traits. Mainly, she finds confidence and courage very attractive. She feels very pleased when she discovered that her crush is also a caring, giving person and a good friend.
- Big Beautiful Woman: Peyton seems to have an affection for these. Her number one celeb crush is Queen Latifah, and she has an instant crush on Leshawna.
- Black Jezebel Stereotype: Averted. Leshawna says straight out that in a relationship, taking the physical side slowly is right, because that's not what it's all about.
- First Friend: DJ to Peyton. Although she makes several friends on the show, DJ is the most notable and the one she has the most in common with.
- Friends Turned Romantic Rivals: Peyton and Harold realize that they may be this at one point, but agree to leave it to fate.
- Girl on Girl Is Hot: Peyton is not impressed when Harold admits that he thinks this.
- Girly Girl: Despite Peyton's short hair and active hobbies, she wears a lot of makeup and prefers to wear dresses or skirts when she's not doing anything active.
- Hypocrite: Heather, the girl known to do ballet, insults Peyton by saying that all dancers are stuck-up sluts. To be fair, she might have meant girls who mostly do modern dance, but even then, Peyton mentions taking ballet classes briefly.
- Horrible Judge of Character: Peyton isn't quite this, but she does have a tendency to be quick to judge and often discovers she was wrong. This is why it takes her a while to become friendly with Gwen and becomes afraid of Duncan within two seconds of meeting him.
- Informed Attribute: Due to the medium, Peyton's skills in dance and yoga aren't able to be showcased, although she mentions some of the acrobatics she learned from hip-hop classes and moves from jazz classes.
- Just Friends: Harold agrees to be this with Leshawna, but confirms that if she ever wants a Relationship Upgrade, he'll be happy to step in.
- Lipstick Lesbian: Peyton to a T. A lesbian who loves to dress up and look girly, and enjoys conventionally feminine exercises.
- Love Confession: Peyton does this over and over in her notes to Leshawna, but she finally reveals herself in one of these well into the merge.
- Love Triangle: Peyton realizes she has competition for Leshawna's heart when Harold admits that he's been writing love notes to her, just as she has.
- Nonconformist Dyed Hair: Peyton has hot pink hair in a pixie cut. Her natural hair colour is platinum blonde.
- Odd Friendship: Peyton and Harold make friends, despite not having very much in common.
- Pink Means Feminine: Peyton's favourite colour, and she's VERY girly.
- Romantic Wingman: Gwen does this for Peyton because she's good friends with Leshawna and can act as a bridge. This includes telling Peyton that Leshawna does not want to be with Harold and that her attitude towards relationships is pansexual - she couldn't care less if the person she gets with is a man or a woman.
- Shrinking Violet: Peyton at the start. She gets a little more confident as she warms up to people and more so in general.
- Shout-Out: In an act of self-indulgence, the author makes allusions to Film/Heathers due to being a fan of the musical adaptation (the story takes place before the musical existed) and the theory that Heather might have been named for the movie. Peyton even threatens Heather with drain cleaner at one point, referencing the scene when Heather Chandler is tricked into drinking it.
- Sucks at Dancing: Peyton really looks up to Leshawna in most ways, but the one thing Peyton is better at is dancing.
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: Bridgette and Peyton become friendly with each other, especially after Katie leaves. They do yoga together and often hang out. The only reason Peyton eventually makes friends with Gwen is because Bridgette lets her know that Gwen is actually a lot nicer than she appears.
