To Depart and Remain

Izuku dies before All Might can save him from the sludge villain, seemingly ending his story before it can even begin.
And yet, despite this rather unfortunate setback, Izuku somehow still manages to become a hero.
To Depart and Remain has the following TV Tropes:
- Death by Adaptation:
- Izuku, of course, is killed in the first chapter of the story.
- Mineta is killed during the USJ attack.
- Death of a Child: Well, technically Izuku is teenager when he died, but it still counts since he was still in middle school.
- Don't Fear the Reaper: The Others aren't actually bad beings since they're doing their jobs of bringing souls to the afterlife.
- Downer Beginning: The first chapter starts with Izuku's death and All Might apologizing to the former's corpse.
- For Want Of A Nail: Since Izuku suffers a Death by Adaptation, many things have change from the canon series.
- The Grim Reaper: The Others are this.
- Intergenerational Friendship: Izuku is a fourteen year old teen and Ichijorei is a little ancient.
- Interspecies Friendship: Izuku slowly is developing on with Ichijorei: the Other being.
- "It" Is Dehumanizing: Ichijorei has called Izuku "it". Although, it's likely since the latter is human with the former not understanding that it's considered to be an insult towards humans.
- It's All My Fault: All Might blames himself for Izuku's death. He even retires from heroism since he believes that his stubbornness to retire is what caused the boy's death due to the belief that he's no longer the Pro Hero he once was.
- Morality Pet: Izuku is becoming one to Ichijorei.
- Outliving One's Offspring:
- Inko suffers this due to Izuku being killed by the Sludge Villain.
- Mineta's parents also outlive him when he is killed in the USJ attack.
- Psychopomp: The beings are known as the Others.
