- Anthology: Each chapter of this fanfic is a different story about the Young Six' misadventures, though there are a few things that tie them together.
- Apple of Discord: "Best Friend?" has Gallus, Smolder, Yona and Silverstream arguing about which of them is Sandbar's best friend. Sandbar eventually breaks things up and gets them to explain that the reason why is because their group has only one pony in it and Gallus said that it would be neat to be the pony's best friend.Sandbar: Guys... I have no best friend, okay? I have five. Fighting over my attention and approval is silly... okay?
- Big Eater: The first chapter of the story starts with Gallus wolfing down his lunch.
- Childhood Friends: Comet Trail and Sandbar were very close when they were colts, which makes what happens shortly after they meet each other for the first time in years all the more painful.
- Children Are Innocent: Sandbar's little sister Coral Currents asks Sandbar if he and Ocellus are going to get married now, after Sandbar introduces Ocellus to his family.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: In "Childhood Stories", Smolder tells her friends about the time she claims to have challenged the Dragon Lord Torch. Unsurprisingly, the so-called fight mainly consisted of her charging at Torch and trying to claw at his foot, only for him to send her flying away simply by nudging his foot.
- Dark Horse Victory: In "Fastest Flier", Gallus and Smolder both have an Escalating War to see who can win a race between them, thus causing Silverstream to win.Silverstream: While you two were busy having your little... whatever-that-was... I just, you know... raced. I've been here for a couple of minutes, actually.
- Don't Call Me "Sir": In the final chapter, "Homecoming", Sandbar's father says this after he welcomes Ocellus to his home.Ocellus: Thank you, Sir.
Sandbar's father: Please, don't call me Sir. I feel old enough as it is. - Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Well, "evil" is a bit of a strong word, but Comet Trail was kind of shocked to find out that his childhood friend is dating a changeling after he survived Queen Chrysalis' first attack on Canterlot. He is even more shocked when Sandbar decides to stay with Ocellus and his other friends over him.
- Fantastic Racism: Comet Trail is not happy with the idea of Sandbar having a changeling as his girlfriend, since he was in Canterlot when Queen Chrysalis and her army attacked.
- First Kiss:
- Sandbar and Ocellus share their first kiss together in "First Time" after Sandbar comforts Ocellus over their relationship.
- Gallus and Silverstream have their first kiss in "Loss" after Gallus comforts Silverstream over the death of her great aunt Moonlight Wave.
- Forceful Kiss:
- After Sandbar comforts Ocellus over her feeling uneasy over their relationship, she surprises him by leaning forward without warning and pressing their lips hard together in a surprise kiss. Though surprised at first, Sandbar quickly returns the kiss.
- Silverstream surprises Gallus with a kiss when he comforts her over her great aunt's death. But she quickly realizes what she is doing and breaks away from him, apologizing.
- Hurt/Comfort Fic: "Loss" is largely focused on Gallus helping Silverstream get over the death of her great aunt Moonlight Wave.
- I Kiss Your Hand: While flirting with Ocellus, Sandbar takes her hoof and plants a gentlemanly kiss on it, before asking her if she wants to kiss again.
- Jabba Table Manners: In the first chapter, "Guy Talk", Gallus wolfs down a big piece of meat without using any cutlery. According to him, using cutlery to eat his food isn't as fun as the way he does it.
- Official Couple:
- Sandbar winds up getting engaged to Ocellus.
- Meanwhile, Gallus is engaged to Silverstream.
- Precious Puppy: Silverstream looks after one of these in the chapter known as "The Puppy". She calls him Mr. Yappy McScrufferson.
- Prefers the True Form: When Ocellus tries to make herself look more beautiful for Sandbar by transforming into a beautiful mare, Sandbar tells her she doesn't need to change herself to look pretty to him, because he already thinks she looks pretty.
- So Proud of You: Sandbar's father tells Sandbar that he and his mother are both proud of him for saving Equestria from Cozy Glow's attempt to drain all the magic.Sandbar's Father: I am so proud of you, son. Your Mother and I always knew that you'd do well at that school... but to become a hero? Now that's something!
Sandbar: Thanks, Dad. - The Unapologetic: Comet Trail refuses to apologize for insulting Sandbar's friends, which then leads to Sandbar ending his friendship with Comet Trail.
- This is ultimately subverted in "Wounds" when he does apologize for what he said to Ocellus and Sandbar's other friends.
- We Used to Be Friends: Sandbar and Comet Trail were very good friends when they were younger, but shortly after reuniting with his old friend, Comet Trail started insulting Ocellus. This did not sit well with Sandbar, who decided to end his friendship with Comet Trail.Comet Trail: You're not the friend I remember, Sandbar. You've changed.
Sandbar: So have you.- In the chapter called "Wounds", Comet Trail apologizes to Ocellus for what he said to her, but he and Sandbar both agree that they're never going to be friends again.
Comet Trail: Ocellus... some friendships... can't be fixed... What I did... What I said... that was more than what any friend should ever do to another. A dagger through Sandbar's heart. This bridge? It burned down a long time ago... And I'm the one who set it alight. There was never any coming back from this. Not for me. - Wham Episode: "Old Friend, No Longer" has Sandbar reuniting with his foalhood friend, Comet Trail. But when the latter sees that his friend has Ocellus the changeling as his girlfriend, he starts insulting her due to his bad history with the changelings, prompting Sandbar to end his friendship with Comet Trail.
