Two days before Halloween, King Ghoul plans to unleash terror onto Forgone Island, and sends his minions to possess five people, and bring them back to his lair. Meanwhile, the villagers in Main Village are preparing for their Halloween festival, unsuspecting of the danger that is to befall them. All seem to be unconcerned with matters other than festival, but when some of their friends go missing, it's up to them to band together to save them.
Sonic Boom Legends – Halloween Special: Curse of the King Ghoul is a spinoff fanfiction of Sonic Boom Legends, written by Shift the Hedgehog's owner grimlock1997, who also wrote Dark Tails Unleashed. The story is set outside the main storyline of Legends, being more of an Alternate Continuity. As of writing this, the story has only two chapters, which can be read here ([1]

Sonic Boom Legends – Halloween Special: Curse of the King Ghoul provides examples of:
- A Boy and His X: Forge and his pet duck, Roger.
- Alternate Continuity: Takes place outside of the Main Legends storyline. Also counts as a What If? story.
- Berserk Button: Do not hurt Alkira when Maniac is around. Despite her normally quiet demeanor, she will whoop your ass.
- Big Damn Heroes: Maniac has a moment of this in Chapter 2, when, after seeing Alkira hurt by Possessed!Fixer, she throws down, and fights him off.
- Big Sister Instinct: Maniac has this towards Alkira, when she sees she's hurt. See Big Damn Heroes above.
- Quayla immediately gets enraged when she hears that Fixer hurt Alkira. Shipper on Deck tendencies be damned, if you hurt Alkira, you've pissed off Quayla.
- Big "WHAT?!":
- Forge has this when Fixer suggests he ask Sophia out to the Halloween party.Forge: I should WHAT?!
- Quayla gets one in Chapter 3, when she learns that Alkira got hurt because of Fixer.
- Forge has this when Fixer suggests he ask Sophia out to the Halloween party.
- Break the Cutie: Alkira, by the end of Chapter 2, had been slashed in the arm by her best friendnote and the poor girl is clearly traumatized.
- Call-Back: Has multiple call-backs to previous episodes, such as Translator in Disguise, Operation Baked Goods, Fashion Friendly, and Rose to the Occasion.
- Darker and Edgier: Even with the main Legends storyline being this to Sonic Boom, this kicks things up a notch, with more graphic violence.
- Imagine Spot: Forge has one in Chapter 3 of Sophia in his fireplace, asking him out, before rubbing his eyes, and realizing he was daydreaming.
- Jump Scare:
- Erik gets one of these when confronting Possessed!Dawn.
- Maniac is similarly jump-scared when she confronts Possessed!Fixer.
- Let's Get Dangerous!: Maniac, despite not really fighting that much, wastes no time taking out Possessed!Fixer, after he'd hurt Alkira.
- Love Makes You Dumb: Downplayed. Forge starts to become far more disorganized and out-of-it, the more he thinks about Sophia.
- Nightmare Face: The possessed characters have this, although, so far, the viewer isn't able to read about what it looks like, but the characters have seen. It ain't pretty.
- Oh, Crap!: Fixer and Forge have this reaction to Forge dropping a candy basket on Quayla's foot, and have another one to Sophia and Alkira approaching the scene.
- Paper-Bag Popping: Erik's preferred method of getting Shift's attention, evidently.
- Say My Name:
- Shift shouts Erik's name when he frightens him with the Paper-Bag Popping.
- Sienna shouts Shift's name when he runs off before she could ask him something.
- And, of course, "WAAAAAAAAAAKE!"
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Sophia is very quick to flee the scene once Alkira and Quayla start talking about her and Forge.
- Shipper on Deck:
- As usual, Quayla fits the trope like a glove. Conversed by Shift in Chapter 3:Shift: Mostly to Quayla. She’s the shipper on deck in this town, after all. Who else could fill in that kind of role in this town?
- Fixer and Alkira seem to be rooting for Forge and Sophia to be together.

- Shout-Out: The fanfiction is one big reference to the Sonic X episode "Sonic's Scream Test".
- What the Hell, Hero?: Sophia reprimands Forge and Fixer for dropping the candy basket on Quayla's leg.
- World of Snark: Like Main Legends, all the characters are pretty sarcastic, and snark regularly.
