Fanfic / shenanigans and beyond

Go To

A Harry Potter fanfic series [1] centered on chaos and sometimes questionable decision-making from next-gens Victoire Weasley, Fred II Weasley, and some of their friends. The main story starts with them missing the Hogwarts Express at the beginning of their sixth year, but there are also multiple spinoffs and modern muggle and crossover alternate universes.

shenanigans and beyond provides examples of:

  • Above the Influence: Gallagher does this in hi-jinks when Victoire is much drunker than he is and gets very touchy.
  • Acquainted in Real Life: Gallagher and Victoire befriend each other on a discord server rarely defeated corgis and only realize who the other is after they've started getting drinks together.
  • Amicable Exes:
    • Fred and Lexy are very much this in wildly illogical - they reference it multiple times.
    • Teddy and Victoire are also this in wildly illogical: through the grapevine - he's clearly been actively encouraging Vic to tell Gallagher how she feels and even [[runs interference with Gallagher's ex]].
  • Aroused by Their Voice: Victoire about Gallagher's voice in both wildly illogical and mathematically absurd - in the latter, the restrictions posed by the pandemic definitely contribute.
  • Best Friend: Fred and Victoire, in every version of the story.
  • Betty and Veronica: Teddy (Betty)-Victoire-Gallagher (Veronica) in shenanigans.
  • Double Entendre: Gallagher and Victoire are both frequently guilty of this.
  • Endearingly Dorky: Victoire often buries the lead and puts her foot in her mouth.
  • Everyone Is Bi: Everyone in the core friend group, and many of their family and friends.
  • First Kiss: Gallagher and Victoire in shenanigans — it escalates quickly.
  • A Friend in Need: Micah does this on multiple occasions:
    • He frequently helps Victoire grapple with her ADHD in shenanigans.
    • He's also there for Gallagher at a tough point in shenanigans, even though they're not particularly close.
  • Friendly Rivalry: Fred and Lexy in both shenanigans and the rarely defeated corgis.
  • Friendship Moment: Fred and Victoire have a few of these moments in shenanigans.
  • The Friends Who Never Hang: Gallagher and Micah in shenanigans.
  • Friends with Benefits: Fred and Lexy become this in the rarely defeated corgis.
  • Geeky Turn-On:
    • Gallagher is incredibly impressed by Victoire's knowledge of electoral politics in mathematically absurd.
    • Juliet positively fawns over Fred's inventions in shenanigans.
    • Victoire nearly drops Fred's phone trying to find pictures of Gallagher's Halloween costume in mathematically absurd.
  • Green-Eyed Monster:
    • Subverted with Teddy in wildly illogical: through the grapevine, who's genuinely happy for Victoire when she gets together with Gallagher.
    • Played straight with Gallagher's ex in wildly illogical: through the grapevine.
  • Home-Early Surprise: Subverted with Fred's parents on New Year's Eve in shenanigans.
  • Insecure Love Interest: In shenanigans, it doesn't even occur to Gallagher that when Teddy asks Victoire out, she'll say no because she prefers him.
  • Just Friends:
    • Gallagher insists that he and Victoire are this in wildly illogical and (to a lesser extent) in shenanigans.
    • Victoire also insists this about Gallagher in shenanigans.
  • Kinky Cuffs: Gallagher and Victoire in shenanigans and the rarely defeated corgis. In the the rarely defeated corgis, they pair it with fire play.
  • Make-Out Kids: Gallagher and Victoire can't keep their hands off each other in shenanigans.
  • Making Love in All the Wrong Places:
    • Fred says that he and Juliet are guilty of this in shenanigans.
    • Gallagher and Victoire are very guilty of this after they get back to school in shenanigans.
    • Lexy mentions having sex with Fred in a stairwell in the rarely defeated corgis.
  • The Matchmaker:
    • At one point in shenanigans, Gallagher was actively trying to matchmake Victoire with Teddy. It doesn't quite end like that, though.
    • Everyone in wildly illogical is trying to matchmake Gallagher and Victoire.
  • Not Under the Parents' Roof:
    • Subverted in shenanigans with Victoire and Gallagher — her mother and his father know exactly what they're doing and don't do anything to stop them. Victoire's mother and Gallagher's older brother both even give them condoms.
    • Played straight with Juliet's parents in shenanigans.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Victoire and Gallagher get this in just about every iteration of the story.
  • Romantic Runner-Up: Teddy in shenanigans.
  • Romantic Wingman:
    • Fred and Victoire are frequently this for each other.
    • Gallagher is very much this for Victoire in shenanigans right up until she kisses him.
  • Secret Relationship: Victoire and Gallagher in both shenanigans and the rarely defeated corgis. They're very bad at it.
  • Sex with the Ex: It's mentioned that Gallagher hooked up with his ex over the previous winter in wildly illogical: through the grapevine. His ex is not thrilled that he's moved on.
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: Subverted with Gallagher in shenanigans. When Juliet refers to Victoire as Gallagher's girlfriend before they've established that they're not just Friends with Benefits, he pointedly doesn't correct her.
  • Stupid Sexy Friend: Lexy about Fred in shenanigans.
  • Terrible Pick-Up Lines: Gallagher frequently intentionally uses these for the amusement value.
    • In mathematically absurd:
      Gallagher: I'm very single.
      Victoire: Why the qualifier?
Gallagher: When I woke up today I was just normal single, but when I saw you behind that plexiglass I needed to be extra available.
    • In an incomplete log of absurd wizarding texts:
Victoire: Teach me everything you know.
Gallagher: Should we start with basic biology or my undying love for you?
  • Unlucky Childhood Friend: Teddy with Victoire in shenanigans.
