Go To

Shadowchasers: Phobos is a one shot fanfic in the Shadowchasers Series intended to be a sequel to Shadowchasers: All Hallows Eve.

Set a year after the original All Hallow's Eve, Phobos pits the Dark Elf Shadowchaser Ashla Da'rok against an Outer God known as Strakh, the King of Fear.

Can Ashla persevere? Or will the King of Fear plunge the universe into chaos?

This Fanfic includes the Following Tropes:

  • Bittersweet Ending: Ashla wins, but she loses the man she loves and on top of that the Outer Gods are now even more interested in the Shadowchasers.
  • Expy: Strakh is intended to be one of the King of Worms from Atop the Fourth Wall, only even more evil.
  • God of Evil: Strakh, an Outer God that basically has sway over fear.
  • Halloween Episode: Once again, much like the previous fanfic, is one of these since its set on Halloween and has Halloween themes.
  • I Gave My Word: Averted, Strakh tried to go back on his word big time at the end.
  • Interspecies Romance: Ashla and Joseph Goldstein.
  • Jack the Ripoff: Almost, Ashla receives a letter from Strakh that is done in the same style as the From Hell letter and includes the Zodiac Killer's symbol. However Strakh was only doing that to catch her attention.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: By defeating Strakh, Ashla gains the attention of more powerful Outer Gods such as Decimus.
  • Posthumous Character: Joseph Goldstein, a Shadowchaser who had been killed and enslaved by Strakh 40 years prior.
  • Predecessor Villain: The Nevershould, an Outer God that is mentioned as having plagued Seidou at some point, and not much else.
  • Serial Killer: Strakh looks like one at first, but its mostly averted.
  • Shout-Out: Several.
    • To Atop the Fourth Wall.
      • The plot and themes somewhat resemble the Machination of Worms plot that ended.
      • The Champion was a title given to Linkara by Lord Vyce.
      • Strakh refers to both the Entity and the King of Worms here:
"I am cousin to Missing, Worm, and Never."
    • After Getting shot by Ashla, Strakh had this to say:
"You have a magic gun? Where'd you purchase that?"
    • Clockwork Soldier bears a slight resemblance to the character Harvey Finevoice, with the mask over his face.
    • The Synchro chant from the King of Worms is the same as a poem about him from it.
    • To Pawn Stars of all things, Ashla thinks about how she bought the Magic Gun from a World Famous Pawn Shop in Las Vegas.
  • Take That!: This bit of dialogue to Yu-Gi-Oh! GX:
Strakh: Let's, what do you humans say, get our game on?
    Ashla: Nobody says that anymore!
