Fanfic / Quirkless 1-B

Go To

Having trained within an inch of his life, Izuku finds himself the top-ranking hero student of the practical exam, but there is only one problem: Izuku is Quirkless. Aizawa didn't want him in his class, leaving Vlad to take Izuku in. As Izuku is left with nothing from a tragic event, he is brought into UA as a technical ward.

He will prove everyone who says Quirkless can't be heroes wrong. Even if he has to do it himself.

Quirkless 1-B is a My Hero Academia fanfic written by Lestat719, where Izuku's rise as the first Quirkless hero is explained from the perspective of Class 1B.

The fic can be found here.

Quirkless 1-B contains the following tropes.

  • Adaptational Jerkass: Aizawa didn't want Izuku in his class due to his Quirklessness, even though he scored first. He also tends to lie when it comes to varying situations, which he is caught in when Detective Naomasa is called in to discuss Bakugou's fate.
    • Kirishima views Izuku as someone that provoked Bakugou, despite the fact Bakugou attacked Izuku just for existing.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • Izuku is far closer to class 1-B than in canon, with some students of Class 1-A coming to him for help in training. Pony, Reiko and Jiro in particular, trust and accept Izuku's help for combat training and in Pony's case, speaking Japanese.
    • Eraserhead views Izuku as a liability due to his Quirklessness, with it sounding like he has shades of Fantastic Racism. This causes Vlad to wonder if Aizawa is a Quirkist or just an idiot.
    • In contrast, his 1A students do not hold any trust to Aizawa, which does no favors for the man.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Discussed. When Izuku explains his reasoning for why he wasn't pressing attempted murder charges on Bakugou, he explains that by cutting him off, he would become a vigilante at best, a villain at worst. This is the wake-up call for him, and if it doesn't wake Bakugou up, then he is screwed.
  • Adapted Out: Mineta is expelled on the QAT.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Kamakiri asks several of these to Kirishima when he sees him glaring at Izuku while giving Kirishima a "Reason You Suck" Speech.
  • Barbaric Bully: Bakugou, despite not seeing Izuku in years, still believes he can beat Izuku up whenever he wants. This culminates in him getting assault charges after trying to kill Izuku and injured Reiko in the process.
  • Death by Adaptation: Inko and Hisashi are killed from a corrupt Pro Hero's recklessness against a villain.
    • Giran is killed by Nezu after getting all the info he needs from him.
  • Exact Words: The law on Vigilantism indicates that you must have a Quirk to be charged with this crime. Izuku, Quirkless, cannot be charged with it, as the judge points out.
    • When Jiro asks Izuku if he's suspended, Izuku explains that he's suspended from attending classes, but since he lives on campus, he's allowed to walk about campus.
  • Saying Too Much: Bakugou is called up to discuss his fate after the class brawl. However, what he says causes them to realize he is mentally unstable.
