Bailey Young is sent to a co-ed juvie for vandalism, and instantly befriends Duncan, but unfortunately, catches the interest of Mal, a deeply disturbed young man who is an alternate personality of Mike, who suffers from Disassociative Identity Disorder:

- Can't Get Away with Nuthin': At first averted, as nothing comes of Bailey's graffiti. However, once she passes that point and sets off fireworks in trash cans, she ends up spending half the year in juvie.
- Dark Is Not Evil: Bailey wears black, has dyed her hair, but she's generally not antagonistic.
- Evil Sounds Deep: Lampshaded by Bailey, when she mentions that Mal's voice is far deeper than Mike's.
- In-Series Nickname: Mal adopts the name "doll face" for Bailey.
- "Not If They Enjoyed It" Rationalization": Bailey fears this is her situation after realizing that she likes Mal's abuse.
- Oh, Crap!!: Bailey's reaction when she realizes that she said Duncan's name while Mal was pleasuring her.
- One of the Boys: All of Bailey's friends at school are boys, and she generally doesn't get along well with girls. Even though she gets along with most of the girls in juvie, she states that her preferred company is Duncan every time.
- Punny Name: Bailey is sent to juvie, and she wants to be "bailed" out.
- Shout-Out: Emilie Autumn 's song Liar is referenced to describe Mal and Bailey's relationship."Are you suffering? I want your suffering."
- Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Bailey hates it when her sister Lucy borrows her makeup and won't give it back, but all of her interests besides makeup are far from girly, including tagging walls with spray-paint and playing pranks.
- The Power of Love: This frees Bailey from her dependence on sexual pleasure. Justified, since she admits later on that while in juvie, she and Duncan got far enough that she was able to get pleasure without it being forced on her.
