Osscrover of Dom: DEATH OF LIFE OR DEATH is the epic story of the meeting of Peter Chimaera's John Stalvern and squirrelking's John Freeman, and a bevy of characters from their other stories, as they fight to save all "realty".
This fan fiction provides examples of:
- Action Hero: Most of the main characters are these: John Stalvern and John Freeman, believably enough, but also including Garfield, and, bizarrely, 'Sarah Plain and Tall', all qualify.
- Back for the Dead: John Freeman seemingly bites the bullet in this one, seemingly just for the sake of killing him off at the end.
- Ascended to a Higher Plane of Existence: Averted. After the author of Garfield in: "Along Came a Splut" deleted the story, Garfield has been returned to normal.
- Big Bad: Shrek, who is secretly the one leading the Demons, Combines,
- The Cameo: Jeff the Killer turns up on the Shrek Star, though it's left unclear whether he's working for the big bad. Oh, and he's actually been Robin this entire time.
- Cosmic Retcon: John Stalvern being alive in this story is seemingly thanks to John Freeman having time traveled to the events of DOOM: Repercussions of Evil to save him.
- The Coup: Walter Hobbs (presumably James Caan's character from the 2003 film Elf) usurps control of the humens from Henry Freeman.
- Dirty Coward: The Humen General, who gets stepped on by Mecha Donkey.
- Even Evil Has Standards: The Joker joins the heroes because of this.
- Exactly What It Says on the Tin: Shrek's secret base, the "Shrek Star", is essentially the Death Star, but in the shape of Shrek's head. Also, it's the ship from Titan A.E.. And a transformer.
- Face–Heel Turn: In between Batman: Nemesis Fight and this story, Robin has become Jeff the Killer.
- The Ghost: "Scoobh Doo", who takes the place of Sarah Plain and Tall's dog Guess from the original novel, for some reason, and is never referenced again.
- Heel–Face Turn: Happens multiple times in the story, including:
- The Joker, because all of the "Shrek is Love, Shrek is Life" memes have the same punchline.
- General Grievous, because while the protagonists don't own light sabers, Shrek apparently does.
- Dick Dastardly and Muttley, Killer Croc, and the Commando Elite join the fight against Shrek after General Grievous convinces them that Shrek is evil.
- Historical Villain Upgrade: Pierre Trudeau, a real life Prime Minister of Canada, turns up for no reason and murders Doctor Doom.
- Intercontinuity Crossover: The story brings together, among others:
- Joker Immunity: Fittingly enough, the Joker is blessed with this. Somewhat justified on the basis that he's now a Zombie Goast.
- Killed Off for Real: Batman, who for some reason is not part of the Joker's Zombie Goast army at the end of the story. Then again, the Joker was in heaven when he was first summoned, so perhaps Batman is in hell.
- Lemony Narrator: Fittingly enough, Creator/Morgan Freeman, who provides narration for most of the story.
- Planet Spaceship: The Big Bad's not so secret base, the Shrek Star. Yes, it's exactly how it sounds.
- The Worf Effect: General Grievous is somehow easily dispatched by Jeff the Killer.
