Go To

Izuku got beaten up for saving someone. By the one who was supposed to be his friend. No one helped him. Ever. And laying under that tree, beaten up, he came to a gruesome realization. So, did he wimp out and did nothing? FUCK NO! He used that brilliant mind of his, made a plan and stuck to it. And now came the time to reap the rewards.

One Punch Deku is a My Hero Academia fanfic by NPGamer11 where Izuku Midoriya has the personality and overwhelming power of Saitama from One-Punch Man.

The fic can be read here on Fanfiction Dot Net and here on Archive of Our Own.

One Punch Deku provides examples of:

  • Abusive Parent: Hisashi Midoriya, Izuku only exists because Hisashi was paid by the US government in the attempt to father a telekinetic as powerful as his first daughter (that being Tatsumaki), only to abandon him and tell Tatsumaki her brother had died in childbirth and her mother didn't want to see her upon finding out he was Quirkless from an X-ray done at birth, while not telling Inko anything. And at some point, he renounced both his and Tatsumaki's Japanese citizenship without telling the latter. Needless to say, Izuku fears he'll kill him if he ever met him again, and upon finding out everything Hisashi did Tatsumaki almost did kill him.
  • Accidental Murder: Izuku accidentally punches a hole through Muscular's chest during their fight. He dies instantly.
  • Berserk Button: Because Izuku was forced into absolute self-reliance out of Fantastic Ableism and did nothing but work in order to make it into UA, he hates it when people try to blame him for their own misfortunes.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Tatsumaki. Upon finding out her brother is alive but Quirkless, her first instinct was to fly to Japan for him, while also being ashamed of not having been there to protect him from the bullying.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: Having no quirk of his own, Izuku put in a workout routine that pushed himself to the limit daily "until [his] whole body burned and [he] puked blood." By the time he makes it into UA, he has unlimited stamina, Super-Strength, and Super-Speed that surpasses All Might's in his prime, invincibility, an Ideal Illness Immunity, and a Killing Intent aura.
  • Defeat by Modesty: Izuku's defeat at the sports festival is due to his clothing being completely destroyed. He literally runs out of the arena to get dressed, giving Katsuki the win. Deconstructed, as Bakugo is not happy to win this way.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: When Shigaraki brings up a UA student (Izuku) who could match blows with the Nomu designed to fight All Might, All For One presumes that this student is the next wielder of One For All. If this was the canon-universe he would be right, but in this case Izuku is just a Badass Normal who shattered his natural limits with strength training to attain similar strength to All Might.
  • Gag Penis: Izuku seems to have one. After all of his clothes get destroyed from his fight with Todoroki in the Sports Festival Tournament, pictures of his naked form become a meme online, most of the girls in the Hero Course gawk at a poster copy of his physique, and Izuku gets regularly accosted and groped by fans he happens to meet on the train. If it weren't for his Killing Intent, it would have only gotten worse.
  • Hard Work Hardly Works: Defied. Izuku is possibly the strongest being in the story and got his strength from training, not One For All or genetic chance. He also chews out Shinso for thinking Izuku is just lucky.
  • I Can't Hear You: During the Sports Festival, two students talking at normal volume in the middle of the arena will not be heard by most of the audience. Such as when Shinso makes Izuku reveal his quirklessness. The only ones who could understand them are Midnight (who's standing closest), Aizawa (who can read lips), and Ryukyu (who has super hearing).
  • It's Personal: While Hitoshi Shinso saw canon!Izuku as nothing more than an obstacle in the Sports Festival, here he blames Izuku for losing his admittance in the Entrance Exam, Izuku singlehandedly annihilating most of the villain-point robots before anyone else could get to them. After Izuku powers through his Brainwashing quirk with sheer will, Izuku tells him off by accusing him of blaming him for his own inadequacies.
  • Killing Intent: A side-effect of Izuku's overwhelming power is that he gives off an aura of danger that affects anyone that touches him. He has no means of turning it off and it usually happens by accident, the first time it happened being when he was giving money to the register in a convenience store.
  • Muggle Born of Mages: Izuku was one in canon, but the fact that his sister was so gifted makes it more noticeable.
  • Mythology Gag: Izuku's Super-Speed technique is called "Sure-kill move: Speed O' Sound Sonic."
  • No-Sell: Fittingly, Izuku can tank any attack, to the point Kamakiri's blade literally snaps in half against his abs.
  • Now That's Using Your Teeth!: Attempted. Izuku pulls the same "bite a sword apart" move that Saitama uses against Speed O' Sound Sonic. He is immediately concerned that he may contract a disease from the blood that contaminates the sword.
  • Randomly Gifted: Izuku's elder sister Tatsumaki was born with abnormally strong telekinesis. It is even more noticeable considering her brother was born with no powers at all.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: When Shinso blames Izuku for not being admitted into the hero course, Izuku gives him a piece of his mind.
Izuku: I want you to listen to me for a moment. Can you honestly say, without a shadow of a doubt that you gave it your all, trying to get into this place? Did you not care what the world thought of you, did you push yourself to the limit daily, until your whole body burned and you puked blood? Because that's what I did to get into U.A. I relied on no one but myself. I broke through the limits set onto me by society. Did you do the same? Tell me, yes, and I will walk out of this ring right now, and resign. Then you can have my spot in the hero course. I don't care if you lie since you'll be only lying to yourself, and be weeded out before the end of the semester. And don't you start wallowing in self-pity. If you spend even a minute thinking, you'd realize how amazing your quirk is. Of course, you'll never be like All Might. But if that's what made you want to become a hero, then give up right now. But, if you want to become a hero, to prove the world wrong, to do good, then you better be prepared to give it your all. If you have a dream, then you must be prepared to do anything, even become deaf to the screams of the world, telling you you'll fail.
  • Screw Destiny: When Nighteye uses his quirk on Izuku to see his future... he sees nothing. If either of them were to die, then he would at least see that. Izuku concludes that this is because he has "no destiny, no fate, no determined path for [[him]] to follow".
  • This Is Something He's Got to Do Himself: Having spent his whole life with no real support to achieve his dreams, Izuku has developed a knee-jerk opposition to having other people do things for him or help him get an edge up, declining All Might's offer for One For All when offered.
  • Took a Level in Cynic: While Izuku used to be the crying idealist his canon counterpart was, by the time he gains his Charles Atlas Superpower he has developed a sarcastic sense of humor and a loner attitude very similar to Todoroki.
  • The Unchosen One: When Izuku chastises Nighteye for putting so much pressure on Mirio to live up to All Might's legacy, Nighteye claims that only Mirio can since he is the wielder for "One For All" and that he has no hope of matching him. Izuku's response?
    Izuku: Just watch me Nighteye.
