The story of how Toshinori Yagi (not All Might, Toshinori Yagi) singlehandedly defeated his archenemy's League of Villains by accidentally adopting them all.
Or: Toshinori's gonna redemption arc everybody, just watch him.
— Summary from Archive of Our Own.

No Such Thing As a Hopeless Case is a dormant My Hero Academia fanfic by Origamidragons. After a coincidental run-in with Himiko Toga during a storm, Toshinori Yagi is taken to the League of Villains' headquarters. Rather than arrest them all, he sees good in each of the villains and becomes determined to redeem them.

The fanfic can be found here. It was last updated on October 20th 2019.

No Such Thing As a Hopeless Case contains examples of:

  • Cliffhanger: Chapter six ends with Shigaraki announcing All For One is coming to Kurogiri's bar, which Toshinori is currently at. Cue the Oh, Crap! from Toshinori.
  • Demoted to Extra: Izuku Midoriya has yet to appear in the fanfic in any capacity. He exists, but is not present in the story itself. This extends to the rest of Class 1-A as well until Bakugo appears in chapter five after he is successfully kidnapped by the League.
  • Dramatic Irony: Shigaraki spends much of his screen time ranting about how he hates All Might and why... to the man who is secretly All Might. The irony does not escape Toshinori.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Toshinori may believe the likes of Shigaraki and Toga can be redeemed, but he knows Moonfish and Muscular are too evil, sadistic, and bat-shit crazy for redemption. He gets them arrested.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Before what would become canon's Kamino Incident, Toshinori Yagi runs into Himiko Toga during a storm and she introduces him to the rest of the League, not knowing he's All Might. Toshinori gets to know the League members and becomes determined to redeem them (except the irredeemable Moonfish and Muscular).
  • Hates My Secret Identity: Shigaraki despises All Might but thinks Toshinori is a nice guy. Toshinori sweats a bit when he hears just how much Shigaraki loathes his Hero self.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Despite Toshinori's presence and influence, Bakugo is still successfully kidnapped by the League of Villains. His rescue operation is started earlier than in the manga since Toshinori calls Tsukauchi and tells him where they are before Momo Yaoyorozu can wake up and tell the authorities about the tracker she placed on the Nomu.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: Despite no one knowing who Dabi is in-universe and Toshinori himself trying to figure out his real name, the fanfic does not bother to hide that Dabi is a Todoroki. Dabi's "secret" identity is stated right in the tags on Archive of Our Own.
  • The Mole: Toshinori acts as a self-appointed one in the League of Villains, though his goal is to redeem most of them rather than bring them down. His desire to redeem them does not stop him from getting Moonfish and Muscular arrested and telling Tsukauchi where the villains are after Bakugo is kidnapped.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Toshinori has an internal freak out when his phone rings while he's at Kurogiri's bar and the caller ID says Eraserhead is calling. He turns it off before the villains can see he has the number of a Pro Hero on his contact list.
    • Toshinori internally freaks out again when Shigaraki tells the League All For One (All Might's worst enemy who may very well recognize him) is coming to Kurogiri's bar at the end of chapter six.
  • Secret Identity: Like most of the world, the League of Villains have no idea that Toshinori Yagi is All Might. He uses this to his advantage to infiltrate the League in an attempt to steer them away from villainy.
