Spike: Okay, to sum up. This is an alternate Equestria where both Princesses have been captured by magic-draining vines you ‘accidentally’ sowed when they captured you. You’re free, but it’s too chaotically boring for you so you found six other Bearers of Elements in other realities in the hopes of finding new Bearers here to stop the vines and restore some semblance of harmony and balance here. If we do this, you’ll return us home. Am I right?
Discord: I knew you were the right pony for the job! What do you all say, folks? Ready to save another Equestria? Quite a feather in your cap!

You know the story. An alicorn is banished to a celestial body. The remaining one rules for many years. The other alicorn comes back to take revenge. And a team of 6 ponies take up the magical Elements of Harmony to save the world and reunite the sisters. However, despite what you might think you know, the details can be different.

However, in another world, The sisters instead just talked it out and made up. However, this would have unintended consequences when a new threat would incapacitate both princesses. And after many years, someone decided that he would need some outside help to fix this world.

Multiversal Harmony is a multistory crossover fanfiction between multiple fan universes, where Elements of Harmony are pulled from their own worlds to save another. The Hasbroverse crosses over with RainbowDoubleDash's Lunaverse, Rainbooms and Royalty, Life in Manehattan, The Cadanceverse, and Bed Head's Flipverse. And as each element works to find new bearers, they grow and begin to understand that some friendships can even span universes.

This Fanfic contains the following Tropes:

  • Adaptational Relationship Overhaul: One recurring problem that has grown lesser as time goes on is ponies assuming that the entities they know will be the same as their counterparts in their own worlds. Spike's is easily the worst, as in his world he's Shining Armor's brother, which is untrue in any of the other universes, which ends up causing the group to be thrown into the dungeon.
  • Arc Villain: Handsome Gambit is the villain for the 3rd Element. The boss of Fillydelphia, his manipulations have crippled the city and sucked the kindness from the true bearer. It's up to the elements to subvert his influence.
    • Wind Rider is this for the 5th Element, as the evil leader of Cloudsdale.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Ditzy gives Castor a cutting question about his denial of the real reason for shutting out the homeless. "You don't hide the pictures of someone who's on a trip. What REALLY happened to your wife?"
  • Ascended Extra: Of the canon Elements of Harmony, only Pinky and Rainbow Dash keep their respective elements. The rest were extras who had this trope apply to them in their original stories.
  • Bored with Insanity: Discord created such a chaotic world, that after a while, the ponies just stopped caring. Pinkie finds this hilarious.
  • Boyfriend-Blocking Dad: Castor Cut turned into this for Sparkler, due to a rogue seducing his wife and getting her to leave him.
  • Commonality Connection: Why Discord chose the particular Elements for this mission. He suspects that their similarities to the best parts of the new bearers can give them the element they need to save the world.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Ditzy of the Lunaverse mentioned how her Dinky came from a one night stand that didn't work out very well, and critically damaged Sparkler's family.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: The Local Discord is connected to all other versions of Discord in existence, but even he admits that the Hasbroverse version of himself, which Pinkie had to deal with, was a particularly nasty iteration.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: While the different visitors know versions of the other elements from their worlds, working together to survive the mad world helped turn them into truer friends.
  • Had to Be Sharp: This, more than anything else, is Discord's reason for grabbing these ponies. In their worlds, one or more Alicorns went insane, and thusly the surviving ruler couldn't be everywhere for their subjects, which caused hazards and adversity. Overcoming these led Equestria to great heights, making them very powerful nations in their home universes. The world Discord brought them to, on the other hand, didn't have that happen: the Princesses stayed sane and took care of all the problems. This led to stagnancy and a society unable to cope with unexpected issues, which led to Equestria basically collapsing into anarchy once the Plunder Vines captured the Princesses.
  • Hope Bringer: These elements ARE the hope. Bringing magical gifts to the ponies to save their world from devastation, and saving hundreds of lives as they go.
  • Jumping Off the Slippery Slope: The city of Cloudsdale was trying to hold together during the crisis, but without easy farming, they had supply issues. This lead to a little bit of raiding to supply the city, until before long, they were essentially a pirate state under martial law.
  • The Multiverse: It exists and plays a key role in the story. Each of the Elements come from a different universe, which is why Discord brought them here. However, it turns out that two of the universes have already had contact with additional universes- the Hasbroverse, and the Lunaverse. Pinkie (from the Hasbroverse (in which all the Hasbro Cartoons from the 1980's all exist in one world, with a Rainbow Bridge connecting that world to Equestria)) mentions that she jumps universes virtually every day, and Ditzy (from the Lunaverse) brings up the events in the story "Crisis on Two Equestrias," where Lunaverse!Trixie teleported to a universe that was very close to canon.
  • Put on a Bus: To keep the cast small, new element bearers typically get "stored away" for later once the visitors give them their element.
  • Round Robin: Being a six-way collaboration, this was meant to have each author contribute to an arc. However, due to the length of delays between chapters, eventually some authors had to take up additional chapters just to make sure the chapters would actually come out.
  • Schizo Tech: The heroes come from very different universes with differing technology levels. At one point, Ditzy thinks that a movie theatre with blinking electric lights is massively wasteful, since Electricity is new in her Equestria and takes a lot of time and effort to keep running, with most lights still being gas-powered. Meanwhile, on the other end of the scale, Pinkie Pie has a smart phone that she shows off to her new friends.
  • Shout-Out: Discord does the Goofy holler as he's flung away from Canterlot.
  • Sour Supporter: None of the visiting elements particularly trust Discord's plans to get new elements, but Pinkie Pie has the greatest suspicion, in part because her Discord was the most malicious.
  • Spanner in the Works: The Element team essentially serves as disruptions for the social fabric of this world.
    • Ironically, Discord is pulling this on himself- he genuinely doesn't want the Plunder Vines to continue, since he's grown Bored with Insanity, so he's attempting to get the Elements together to pull one on the Vines.
    • Auntie appealing to their better nature helped reform her alternate universe husband and her old friend, ending her crime spree.
    • Spike reaching out to Shining Armor helped to ensure a better future for Canterlot.
    • Ditzy angrily asking a colt if his mother would approve of what he's doing bore fruit that brought down a gang empire.
    • Rainbow Dash appealing to Cloud Kicker saved Cloudsdale from becoming even worse.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Pinkie's denial that in NO WAY is Sparkler Ditzy's alternate universe Daughter.
  • Tyrant Takes the Helm: Wind Rider had ideas on how to keep Cloudsdale going. But before long, it turned into him having most of the power, and trying to become the strongest and most dominant Pegasus in all Equestria.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Rainbow Dash's reaction once she sees that her "mom" has an interest in both pegasi who could be her dad.
