Moving In is a The Loud House Alternate Universe Fic on fanfiction.net. It was originally written by SpartanXHunterX and then was adopted by Blueperson2021 on June 10th, 2020 with SpartanXHunterX’s permission.

After his mother gets engaged to her new boyfriend, Lincoln Alvarsson finds the two of them moving from Hazeltucky to Royal Woods to live with Lynn Loud Sr. and his ten daughters. Will Lincoln struggle to handle the chaos of the Loud House? Or will he embrace that he is no longer an only child?

Tropes in this fanfic include:

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade:
    • Zigzagged with Lincoln; in the show, Lincoln reacts with just simple annoyance whenever he gets bullied. In this fanfic, the constant bullying that he suffered in Hazeltucky has traumatized him and he’s scared of being bullied in Royal Woods. On the other hand, because Lincoln was raised as an only child, he doesn’t grow up feeling overshadowed by overachieving and talented sisters. As a result, he feels very secure in his artistic talent and has already won several awards for it (even a first-place trophy) by the time the story starts.
    • Played straight with the Loud Sisters, since all of them had their biological mom die a year and a half ago. Lori, in particular, had to take on several parental responsibilities in order to help out her father.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In the show, Lincoln and Clyde have been best friends since kindergarten. Here, they didn’t meet until fifth grade when Lincoln moved to Royal Woods and when Principal Higgins chose Clyde to become Lincoln’s new student guide. Furthermore, Lincoln is the newest addition into his canon friend group, instead of Stella.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Back in Hazeltucky, Lincoln was constantly bullied and didn’t have any actual friends, even before an unspecified incident that made him get bullied even more.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Luna is the first sister to like Lincoln, and she doesn't hesitate to call out Lori after she indirectly causes him to have a meltdown and she doesn't care, thinking that Lincoln is just being an overreacting brat.
  • Death by Childbirth: Lynn Sr.’s first wife, Lilian, died giving birth to Lily.
  • Disappeared Dad: Lincoln’s biological father abandoned Rita after he got her pregnant with Lincoln.
  • Dye Hard: Discussed In-Universe by Rita, when she suggests that Lincoln can dye his hair to hide his naturally white hair if he doesn't want anybody in Royal Woods to find out about it. Lincoln turns the offer down because he still sees it as an unique part of him.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: Averted. Lincoln Alvarsson knows that he has artistic talent and has won several awards for it, ranging from first place to participation awardsnote . He sees the Loud's trophy case and declines to put his awards in it feeling secure in himself.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Despite Lincoln not meeting any of his canon friends (Clyde, Liam, Rusty, Zach, and Stella) until 5th grade, they are all still very good friends with each other and gladly invite Lincoln into their friend group.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: Bobby often acts as a soundboard for Lori's rants whenever she's frustrated with her family or with her parental duties.
  • Maiden Name Debate: When Rita decides to take the Loud last name after she marries Lynn Sr., Lincoln takes issue with it because it means he will have to give up the Alvarsson last name, too. In fact, he tells everybody at his new school to not call him "Lincoln Loud" because of it.
  • Missing Mom: The Loud Sisters’ biological mother, Lilian, died giving birth to Lily.
  • Never Bareheaded: Because Lincoln’s white hair was one of the reasons why he was bullied back in Hazeltucky, he starts to always wear a winter beanie on his head to prevent people in Royal Woods from seeing his hair.
  • Promotion to Parent: After her mother died, Lori took on a lot of family responsibilities, including helping out her nine younger sisters, to ease the burden of taking care of the family off of her father.
  • Raised by Grandparents: Albert/Pop-Pop helped Rita raise Lincoln before the events of the story because Lincoln's biological father wasn't around. After Rita and Lynn Sr. get engaged, he decides to move into a retirement home because he knows that there won't be enough room for him at the Loud House and because he's glad that Lincoln has older sisters and a stepfather to help take care of him now.
  • Related Differently in the Adaptation: In the show, all the Loud siblings are biologically related to each other, and Lynn Sr. and Rita have been married for a long time. In this fanfic, the sisters and Lincoln are stepsiblings-to-be who have only recently met each other when Lincoln and Rita move into the Loud House. Also, Pop-Pop goes from being the Loud siblings' maternal grandfather to only being Lincoln's biological grandfather since Lincoln is Rita's only biological child in this story.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: After Lincoln has a meltdown because he thinks everybody at school thinks saw his white hair, Clyde wonders if there weren't a lot of blonde kids at Hazeltucky; apparently, Lincoln was in sunlight at the time, so Clyde and the others thought he has blonde hair and just really likes wearing hats. Lincoln decides to go with that assumption for now.
  • Token Minority: Discussed by Clyde after Lincoln has a Freak Out on his first day of school after Ronnie Anne bullies him. He tells Lincoln how, back when he was younger, Clyde was practically the only black kid at Royal Woods Elementary, and while nobody actively discriminated against him for that, it was difficult for him to find and make friends because of it until he met Rusty. He tells Lincoln this to reassure him that if he's afraid of sticking out at all, Clyde and his friends will help him fit in, even if it's just with their friend group.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • In Chapter 8, Lucy and Luna call out Lori for acting very cold towards Lincoln and not making him feel welcome at the Loud House.
    • During the next chapter Luna calls out Lori for causing Lincoln to have a meltdown by trying to take his hat away from him and yelling at him for making a mess when his struggle to keep it on him spilled the laundry detergent all over the basement. The fact that Lori doesn't care because she believes Lincoln was just freaking out over nothing makes Luna especially mad.
