Fanfic / Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Eclipse

Go To

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Eclipse is a Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Fanfic that serves as an Alternate Universe Fic to the official sequel New Mobile Report Gundam Wing: Frozen Teardrop written by Myviewing.

Set in After Colony 225, the Earth Sphere United Nations is forced into a new conflict with a faction from outer space known as the Falson Coalition which has the full support of the space colonies as well. Due to fears of the united Earth, the Coalition takes it upon itself to prevent the Earth from ever becoming the fearsome force that oppressed them in the first place. Earth however is not choosing to let this be their ultimate defeat. Even after a long 11-year war that weighs on the minds of everyone, the Earth is now prepared to give the ultimate response to having to deal with such a challenge. The revival of Gundam.

This fic contains examples of the following tropes, in addition to those already present in the source material:

    open/close all folders
    Tropes A to M
  • Action Girl: Donna Lindemann, Dana Houston, Aglaii Belyakova, and Agent Zelma are pretty key ones while some of the pilots that accompany them such as Ludwika are there to provide some support. Sally Po gets in with the action as well.
  • Alternate Universe Fic: Eschews Frozen Teardrop in favor of its current timeline.
  • Ambitionis Evil: Edward Blare's desire to usurp the Coalition is a big demonstration of this. He has the loyalty of many of his men and is ready to stomp and kill anyone who gets in his way. Including those supposedly on his side.
  • Cool Starship: The Solaris fulfills this role.
  • The Federation: The Earth Sphere United Nations.
  • Flash Forward Fic: Taking place 29 years after Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz.
  • Gender Is No Object: Just like the predecessor, men and women alike serve important functions in their respective militaries.
  • Generation Xerox: While the story attempts to avoid this, Mercurio is clearly a new generation version of Heero Yuy but with some of his mothers tendencies.
  • Grand Theft Prototype: Invoked in Episode 5 where Agent Zelma steals the Aquarius Wasserman, which proves to be very beneficial for the Falson Coalition cause.
  • Improbable Age: In tradition of similar Gundam material, Eclipse has some pretty young ages for the main characters Mercurio and Donna both 20 years old so ultimately not quite as egregious as usual.
  • Last-Name Basis: Many members of the military, on the Earth Sphere side, do address themselves by their last name from time to time.
  • Mook Mobile: Leos as they were before despite supposedly making some improvements. The Ursas are this for the Earth Sphere to a lesser degree.
  • Multinational Team: The main Gundam pilots who serve are the protagonists are a bit more multinational themselves.
    • Mercurio Yuy: Half Japanese, half Scandinavian.
    • Dana Houston: American
    • Donna Lindemann: Mostly German but a little bit of Arabic as well.
    Tropes N to Z
  • One-Man Army: Much to a similar degree of the original, though a lot of the grunts alongside them tend to get a little glory once in a while.
  • Power Trio: With Flake out of commission for the time being, Christian, Christoph, and Richard Lindemann fill this station.
  • Punished for Sympathy: After his meeting with Mercurio, Aleksei is hesitant to kill him and his fellow soldiers while thinking he can just wait them out before they all die in some way. Backfires when Dana and Tano team up to usurp his attempted coup.
  • The Strategist: Quite a few to be seen, though the Coalition’s Bertram Stephens certainly takes a lot of spotlight through the story while also being prepared to demonstrate his true loyalty.
  • Throwing Your Shield Always Works: This trope is played very straight as a signature attack for the Uriel which offers its buster sword the ability to change into this and back to its arm Captain America style.
  • Transforming Mecha: As an attempted reproduction of the Wing Zero, the Artemis has this ability which increases its mobility.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Having apparently seen so much conflict in the past and endured a lot for his men and people, it can be seen why Aleksei Federov would want to declare Mars as its own separate entity.
  • White-and-Grey Morality: Once again like the original, two factions are at war with one another for their own reasons. The Coalition fearing the power of a united Earth hoping to attempt its revenge and the ESUN simply hoping to protect everything achieved in the past few decades.
