- Abusive Parents:
- So first, there’s Mori Ougai, who is thought by most of the Hogwarts staff to be Dazai’s guardian and kind of acts like one (albeit a really bad one). He is said to sometimes cut Dazai with a scalpel, he withholds information about his mission from him, and on top of all that makes some comments towards him that could be read as very
uncomfortable. - Dazai’s birth father isn’t much better, frequently physically abusing him, even locking him in a cage with the Port Mafia’s dogs to be mauled. This, unsurprisingly, makes dogs a major Trauma Button for Dazai.
- Interestingly, despite this, he still seems to want to make them proud.

- Adult Hater: Dazai, to a mild extent. He doesn’t actively despise adults, but he seems very uneasy around them.
- Affectionate Nickname: Dazai has a couple.
- From Fred and George, it’s “Little Snake” or, in later chapters, just “Snakey”.
- From Snape, it’s “Problem Child”.
- His friends call him “Boss”, but it’s uncertain if they see it as an affectionate nickname or if they just see him as a leader.
- Afraid of Doctors: Dazai. Although he hides his fear of Mori in particular under a fair degree of annoyance.
- Believing Their Own Lies: Dazai has convinced himself that he harbors no attachment to anyone or anything, that he isn’t afraid of things, and that he only cares about his mission.
- Big Brother Instinct: Fred and George certainly have this towards Dazai and Ron.
- The Bore: Professor Binns, as per canon.
- Bratty Half-Pint: Dazai. He does it on purpose. Inside, though, he isn’t that bad.
- Brilliant, but Lazy: Dazai reads more than almost any other student and knows a lot about magic (even if he can’t healthily use it himself), but he never applies himself.
- Conditioned to Accept Horror: Dazai, frighteningly so. He thinks he is “safe” in Yokohama because his awful conditions are normal for the mafia.
- Cute and Psycho: Dazai is eleven years old and the way he’s described makes him sound like a reasonably cute kid, but he’s clearly mentally unstable.
- Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Dazai hates it when people are concerned for him.
- Entitled Bastard: Draco is one of these, albeit not a particularly terrible person.
- Hates Being Touched: Dazai, with one exception— he actually enjoys the group hug his friends give him before he leaves Hogwarts.
- Papa Wolf: Snape ends up developing this attitude towards Dazai.
- Smug Snake: Draco, as per canon.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Dazai is very, very afraid of dogs.
