Klonoa: Iron Empire is a fan-written Distant Sequel to Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil, written by CallumTheImp.
Klonoa, now 18 y/o, finds himself back in Lunatea 5 years after he saved it. Unfortunately, it is in the middle of a robotic invasion. Now he, Lolo, and Popka must venture throughout the Kingdoms once again to liberate them from the control of foes both old and new!

This fan work contains examples of:
- Acid Attack: Some of Pango's bombs spew out globs of acid when they detonate, dissolving anything they hit. Both Lolo and Klonoa are unnerved about this weapon choice.Lolo: "You had THAT loose in your pocket the whole time!?"
- Air-Vent Passageway: Klonoa and Lolo use one to escape the crumbling La-Lakooshan generator.
- Amusement Park of Doom: Joilant has become one due to the robot invasion, but thanks to Klonoa and co's help, the citizens are able to fight back.
- Bloodier and Gorier: Some of the violence depicted here is more graphic than what the games would normally show - hell, a young girl getting her throat slashed in the prologue should give the reader an idea of what they're in for.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: Most of the Moos in Lunatea were brainwashed, both to mass-produce robots and to become soldiers.
- Citywide Evacuation:
- Klonoa and Pango's initial battle plan for La-Lakoosha involved getting everyone to the relative safety of the Claire Moa Temple, so they could focus on finding out where the robots are coming from without having to worry about them hurting anyone else.
- Mamett, the mayor of Joilant, secretly made a deal with Leptock, one of the robotic commanders, to implement this plan so the latter could take over the kingdom. In return, however, the commander wasn't allowed to harm any of the evacuated Joilanteans.
- Counter-Productive Warning: During the first encounter with Leptock, the cyborg clown manages to immobilize Klonoa and Momett by freezing their feet to the ground... but after they free themselves, Mamett quips "You shoulda froze those two completely when you had the chance." Then after Momett holds off Leptock and allows the rest of the heroes to escape, the next time we see the clown, he reveals he took Mamett's advice to heart with the showman.
- Distant Prologue / R-Rated Opening: The fic begins an indeterminate amount of time prior to Klonoa's return to Lunatea, with a duo trying and failing to flee from, and are subsequently killed by, demonic creatures.
- Escort Mission: During the evacuation of La-Lakoosha, Klonoa saves two kids who got separated from their parents, and offers to bring them back to the Claire Moa Temple to find them. Eventually, this duty gets passed on to Popka while the other heroes destroy any robots left in the village."Aww what?" Popka whined. "Why can't I join the fun? I'm not a damn babysitter!"
- Falling into the Plot: It's implied Klonoa came back to Lunatea the same way he did last time - by falling out of the sky and into the Sea of Tears. Unlike last time, he's already washed up in La-Lakoosha by the time he regains consciousness.
- Healing Hands: How Lolo uses her priestess magic to heal people.
- Ill-Timed Sneeze: Popka gets one while he and the rest of the trio try to sneak through the La-Lakooshan generator. He muffles it by sneezing into Klonoa's ear, much to the latter's disgust.“You couldn’t have just used your bandanna!?” Klonoa berated Popka, through gritted teeth as to not make too much noise."I panicked, okay? And besides, I ain't ruining this thing, yo!"
- Killed Off for Real:
- A young girl is killed by a demonic creature slashing her throat in the prologue.
- Momett is killed off during the fight in Joilant, as Leptock freezes them with cryokinesis before shattering them.
- Kill It with Ice: Leptock's primary attack involves freezing his victims with a cryokinetic beam. He can also hover by propelling air cold enough to freeze the ground below him, as well as form sharp icicles with his palms.
- Man on Fire: While evacuating La-Lakoosha, Klonoa comes across a corpse who appears to have been burned alive, their arm outstretched as though they were reaching out for someone to help them. The cabbit appropriately feels sick to his stomach upon seeing this.
- Perp Sweating: Popka fantasizes about doing this to one of the robots patrolling La-Lakoosha, hoping to get them to reveal where they were coming from."You've been watching too many crime movies." Lolo responded, rolling her eyes at the dog-like boy.
- Retired Badass: Pango served in the Volkan army prior to this fic, before settling down in La-Lakoosha to start a family.
- Robot Soldier: Klonoa and co have to stop an entire legion of them.
- Robot War: Klonoa is called back to Lunatea to help stop one.
- Shut Up, Hannibal!: After Popka destroys the La-Lakooshan generator's power core, a bird-like cyborg shows up via video screen to tauntingly warn him that the guy in charge's not gonna be happy... but Popka cuts him off by throwing a glass shard at the screen, destroying it.
- Slashed Throat: A young girl is killed this way in the prologue.
- Speak of the Devil: After seeing a team of robots advance on Bugbear's House, Lu and Babs, two of the fun park's workers, state they need to warn the manor's butler... but nearly run into him immediately after that remark.
- Suggestive Collision: After Klonoa pulls Lolo off a collapsing bridge in the La-Lakooshan generator, she trips and falls on the ground behind him, Klonoa collapsing likewise trying to catch her. It's not until after they land that the two realize that Lolo's right on top of Klonoa, their faces red."AAAAH! I'MSOSORRYI'MSOSORRY!" Lolo stuttered, practically leaping off of him in panicked embarrassment. "I-I-IT WAS AN ACCIDENT, I SWEAR!""H-hey, it's okay, Lolo. Don't worry about it."
- Taking the Bullet: During an initial scuffle in La-Lakoosha, Pango blocks a robot's energy shot that was heading towards Klonoa. Fortunately, his thick scales absorb the impact, and he's able to retaliate.Pango: "When you've been a soldier for well over a decade, you grow thick skin. Or, well, scales in my case."
- Translator Buddy: Popka becomes one, as he's learned to understand the Moos' language during the time between Lunatea's Veil and this fic."Hey, I was bored, okay?" Popka snapped back, somewhat embarrassed.
- Unwilling Roboticisation: This is why Leptock froze the citizens of Joilant instead of outright killing them - he wanted to preserve their bodies to turn them into bionic soldiers.
- You Are Number 6: All of the robots are identified by their model name and serial number (eg: Jakattak #9231), and usually address each other as such. Some Jakattaks, however, don't bother calling out the serial numbers (or if they do, they say something like "Garskater #who-gives-a-hoot"), causing issues when they try to address one specific robot in a crowd."Hey, Garskater?""Yes?" replied every Garskater in the room.""The one to my left." the Jakattak corrected itself."Yes?" replied the Garskater to their left.
- You Just Told Me: Popka tricks Genrallas into revealing where La-Lakoosha's robot generator is by claiming to have seen it at the Sea of Tears from the Claire Moa Temple. When the latter retorts that Popka couldn't've seen the generator from the temple, and asks how he knew where it was, Popka repeats the trope name in response.
