Fanfic / Infinity Train: Dreams of Indigo

Go To

After finding herself on the Infinity Train, Chloe Cerise goes home to Vermillion to find...herself, staring back at her from inside her home.

Infinity Train: Dreams of Indigo: A prospective non-canon future written by the authors for April Fool's 2021.

Tropes in this chapter include:

  • April Fools Episode: Or chapter in this case, considering it's posted on 1st of April and is non-canon to the original story.
  • Alternate Self: All of Vermillion City is this, even including an alternate Chloe. After a few dozen descriptives to differ the two Parker comes up with the Chloe who had been on the train called Blue Chloe and the one who was created by Goh's time travel antics being called Red Chloe.
  • Alternate Universe Reed Richards Is Awesome: Just about everybody in the new timeline is both more attentive to Chloe and less willing to stomach her crap; of special mention are Renji and Chryssa, who are quick to point out the faults both Chloes have.
  • Big "NO!": Parker shouts this when he learns from Blue Chloe that the voice actress for Sofia the First was also a character from The Haunting Hour (Ariel Winter who starred in "Headshots" and "Fear Never Knocks")
  • Both Sides Have a Point: Blue Chloe and Goh arguing over how Goh went and rewrote time: while Chloe is mad at how Goh would do something behind her back while she's risking her life to save others, Goh did do many things to ensure things will get better like making sure that the Unown incident never occurred.
  • Children Are Innocent: Parker doesn't find anything wrong with having another sister.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Enforced, as there's no other know way to tell them apart: The Chloe from the alternate timeline comes to be known as Red Chloe, while the Chloe that came from the Infinity Train is known as Blue Chloe.
  • Did Not Think This Through: Goh didn't realize the implications of his Chloe being on the Infinity Train when he went to rewrite time, so when she returns, there are now two Chloes.
  • The Fellowship Has Ended: The Red Lotus Quarto is no more thanks to Chloe leaving, but Atticus, Lexi and Amelia stick together in order to find Goh from doing something he'll regret.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Goh getting Celebi to travel to the past to fix things, meaning that a lot has happened. The biggest one being that a second Chloe was created and was never sent onto the Infinity Train while the Chloe who was on the Infinity Train remained.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Renji can fully understand why Blue Chloe is so upset about everything, he just sees her actions as going beyond what is warranted and having made her problem in the first place.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Red Chloe hates Blue Chloe for being so interesting and being "Ash but better" with all the adventures she had on the Train and so quickly getting Parker and Yamper's attention.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Even with all of the alterations, Red Chloe still stays in the Cerise Institute even though she's no longer bullied and has much more freedom to do what she loves. Chloe Prime even questions this.
  • Karmic Twist Ending: Chloe returns to Vermillion City, but because she did so after Goh was beaten over the head by his inaction, it's an alternate timeline.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: For all of Goh's good in making sure Chloe never gets on the Train, he also causes a lot of heartache for the other three trainers that are still on it.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: However Goh managed to catch a Celebi it was certainly an achievement.
  • Oh, Crap!: Ash has a horrible realization; since Red Chloe never got on the Train, Goh never searches for her, Trip never comes to explain the Train and thus Hop, Paul and Alain's loved ones never find out about the Train's existence.
  • Other Me Annoys Me: Neither Chloe can stand each other: Blue Chloe because her counterpart reminds her of who she used to be, and Red Chloe because Blue Chloe is everything she wishes she was and is 'like Ash but worse'. Their parents are very concerned about this and aren't sure how to alleviate the problem.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Blue Chloe does not take Reiji's comments well and hits him in the stomach with Cheshire when he goes too far.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Fittingly Red Chloe is the Red Oni, brash, swears, and has a fiery temper. Blue Chloe is the Blue Oni who is calm but is more of a slow burn with bonus points that she has blue streaks in her hair.
  • Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: The only ones who remember the original timeline are Chloe, who was on the Infinity Train at the time, and Goh, Raboot, and Sobble, who caused the changes in the first place.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: Goh caught Celebi in order to ensure that everything that caused Chloe to run away from home never happened, resulting in Sara and Yeardley being suspended, Mr. Pepper changing his grading system, him ensuring that he never calls her out for not having a dream and stopping the Unown from ever flaring up. Unfortunately, since Chloe getting on the Train was key to learning how others were being trapped there, that means that Reggie, Leon, Professor Sycamore and Mairin are no longer aware of the Infinity Train.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Red Chloe notably swears more than Blue Chloe, to a point she actually notices this distinct difference in behavior.
  • Stranger in a Familiar Land: Chloe was always going to hit this problem when she got off the train, but the time alterations made it worse.
  • Trying Not to Cry: Amelia is the one who is doing her best not to shed a tear. It shows how much she's grown close to Chloe.
  • Wham Shot: Blue Chloe looks in shock when she finds another her opening the door to the Cerise Institute.
