Fanfic / I'll Need More Posing, Menacing Aura, Confident Smirk and a good plan too

Go To

A man wakes up to find himself just outside of Happy Harbor in the Young Justice several months before the start of canon. He takes it pretty well, especially after learning that he’s been given 5 of the most broken stands in existence. Taking the name Doppio Valentine, he begins forming a criminal organization while stumbling his way through a series of bizarre misadventures.

I'll Need More Posing, Menacing Aura, Confident Smirk and a good plan too is a Self-Insert crossover between JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Young Justice (2010) by DumpNotDead. It can be read here. The story hasn’t been updated since 2016, so its pretty much dead.

I'll Need More Posing, Menacing Aura, Confident Smirk and a good plan too contains examples of:

  • Accidental Murder: Not quite murder, but Doppio accidentally leaves a prominent gang member comatose by improperly reinserting his mind disk.

  • Big Brother Instinct: Kozart has this towards Camille. He uses his newly acquired stand to pummel Doppio after she accidentally gets cut by the arrow. He ends up delivering a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown to Harm after learning he murdered his own sister.

  • Didn't Think This Through: After killing several gang members who’d been about to execute him, Doppio realizes he’s committed several murders and is officially a criminal now.

  • Even Evil Has Standards: While Doppio may run a criminal organization, he specifically avoids dealing in human trafficking, dangerous drugs, and anything that could be considered worse than the previous two.

  • Heroic RRoD: Doppio’s initial uses of King Crimson’s time skip nearly cause him to collapse.

  • Mind Control: Doppio learns how to use Whitesnake to control people by keeping its hand stuck in someones head without removing their disk.

  • My Significance Sense Is Tingling: Played for laughs. Doppio is driven crazy for several days by a feeling that something is up. It leads him to realize that Cadmus has created a clone of him.

  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Doppio gives one to Harm ala the 7 page muda.

  • Outside-Context Problem: Stands are this to the world of Young Justice, being radically different from your run of the mill superpowers.

  • Paranoia Gambit: Doppio uses Bites The Dust on Sportsmaster, counting on the fact his lack of knowledge on how it works will prevent him from ever revealing his identity out of fear of triggering it.

  • Parental Substitute: Doppio becomes one to Kozart and Camille after he kills their abusive criminal uncle.

  • Reference Overdosed: This story is loaded to the brim with Jojo references, most of which are made by Doppio. It’s partially justified in his case, as acting like or quoting the stands’ original users helps build up his proficiency with them, but it’s mostly because he loves making Jojo references.

  • Rubber Man: Kozart’s stand, Substitute, can make its body malleable and can do the same to people or objects.

  • Shout-Out: Funky Kool is named after two members of Kool & the Gang

  • Superpower Lottery: Doppio is a big winner, having access to The WORLD, Killer Queen, King Crimson, Whitesnake, and Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.

  • Summon to Hand: Funky’s stand allows him to teleport objects to him, the limit being that he has to take time to build up energy to use it on larger objects.

  • Time Master: Doppio’s stands give him three separate ways to manipulate time.

  • Villain Takes an Interest: Once he gets on their radar, the Light naturally takes an interest in Doppio’s abilities.

  • Weirdness Magnet: As per canon, Stand Users are this. No matter where he goes, Doppio always seems to get dragged into some weird adventure.
