Gems and Lanterns
is a Green Lantern and Steven Universe crossover story by Epiclot214. The story follows Jessica Cruz, who survived a traumatic experience a few years prior, and moves to Beach City live with her older sister. Not long after arriving though, a mysterious green ring flies up to her and latches onto her hand, and the ocean disappears, setting Jessica on a path she could never have imagined...
- The Chosen One: Jessica's ring was made after the Guardians created the shield to protect Oa from Yellow Diamond's assault, and Ch'p and G'nort's conversation implies that there's something particularly special about it.
- Clingy MacGuffin: When Jessica's ring finds her, she soon learns that it can't be removed until either a Guardian or fellow Lantern has given her a basic briefing.
- Darker and Edgier: A bit for the Steven Universe side, as it's made clear that Jessica is almost certainly the only one of her friends to survive the incident when she was twelve.
- The Dreaded: Apparently Gems are quite feared among the cosmos, as G'Nort tries to hide behind Ch'p when he sees the Crystal Gems (keep in mind, Green Lanterns are typically chosen because they do not scare easily, even if G'Nort is more cowardly than normal). The next chapter reveals that Yellow Diamond, in part due to being yellow, is currently in a deadlock with the Corps and the Guardians, keeping many of them trapped on Oa.
- Fusion Fic: Fuses the DC Universe with the Steven Universe show, with Jessica moving to Beach City and the Lanterns being aware of Gems.
- Man of Kryptonite: Since the Green Lanterns in this story have their classic weakness of yellow, Yellow Diamond is able to quickly get an upper hand when she attacks Oa. The Guardians set up a shield, but there's currently a deadlock between the Green Lanterns and Gem Empire.
- Shout-Out: All the songs not in the original show are parodies of songs from other franchises. For example, Jessica's first song is based on "The Midnight in Me" from My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Legend of Everfree.
- Sole Survivor: As far as Jessica knows, she's the only one of her friends who survived the incident when she was twelve.
