- A key Deviation is the basic premise, that Mr Harrington discovers Peter's identity and the support structure he employs.
- Thanos' attack is displayed as multiple battles and he is ultimately killed before he can enact the Snap.
- Tony is not killed in the final battle with Thanos. In fact, he was injured in an earlier battle and was in a coma at the time.
- Axes at School: The death of Ashley Priest, a student who died in a shooting during a field trip in 2007 which Harrington was chaperoning. To make it worse, she was where she was at the time because Harrington had tasked her with being the buddy to another girl who wanted to go to the toilet.
- There are many references to school shootings and ALICE training.
- Parental Substitute: Tony is firmly established as one for Peter. In particular, May notes when Tony is comatose and may not wake up that Peter can't handle losing another father.
- Resolved Noodle Incident: Chapter 1 gives us a flashback to the death of Ashley, an incident that is only alluded to in Spider-Man: Homecoming during Harrington's interview after the Washington monument incident.
- Secret-Keeper:
- The plot of the story focuses on Harrington becoming one for Peter.
- Because Tony is out of commission and he is treating Spider-Man as though he's a full-time adult hero, Harrington convinces Peter to reveal his identity to Steve Rogers, making him one as well.
