For generations, the Saiyans and the Kryptonians waged war over one another, only for a force even more powerful than the two to wipe both worlds out. While only a few survivors of these civilizations remained, their power and strength meant that their newly adopted world would be caught in a struggle that could mean the Earth’s very survival.
’’Dragonball DC’’ contains the following examples:
- Adaptational Backstory Change: In Superman canon, Kal-El was sent to Earth after Krypton self-destructed. In the fic, Frieza was the one responsible for Krypton’s destruction after gleefully destroying Planet Vegeta.
- Alas, Poor Villain: Despite the Saiyans being their mortal enemies and jingoistic conquerors, Jor and Lara still mourn the destruction of Planet Vegeta since countless innocents also lost their lives.
- The Coroner Doth Protest Too Much: In-Universe, many people suspect Lionel Luthor had his own parents killed, but nothing was ever definitively proven.
- Dramatic Drop: Lara-El drops her mug from her when Jor-El tells her that Planet Vegeta is completely destroyed.
- Forever War: The Kryptonians and Saiyans had been engulfed in a centuries-long conflict that started when Krypton attempted to aid another planet that was in the midst of a Saiyan invasion.
- MegaCorp:
- Dr. Briefs’ Capsule Corporation, whose innovations single-handedly changed the world and helped lift the nation of Chikyu out of poverty.
- Luthor Corps is a company whose wealth and power surpasses even Capsule.
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: Bulma is a female version of this trope, wanting her successful and intelligent father to acknowledge her intelligence and skill.
