Danganronpa 4: Next Generation Killing! is a story in the Danganronpa Gaiden Series written by WiiFan2009 with characters from Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors added in.
Kiki Naegi, daughter of Makoto and Kyoko Naegi, heads off to college along with her friend and partner in detective training Shuichi Saihara when the two are knocked out and kidnapped. The two of them, along with 14 other people, are then trapped inside of the mysterious Kibou Academy and thrust into another Killing Game by the sadistic Monokuma.
Much like the previous Killing Games, Monokuma gives the group two options: Either stay trapped in the academy or "graduate" by killing someone and getting away with it. Can Kiki survive like her parents did or will she end up as another victim?
It's available on both AO3 and Fanfiction.net.
Danganronpa 4: Next Generation Killing! provides examples of:
- Breaking Old Trends:
- Unlike DR1's and DR2's Chapter 3 cases, this case actually has 2 different killers.
- Character Overlap: This fanfic has both Danganronpa and Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors characters.
- Content Warning: Part 2 of Chapter 3's Daily Life starts with one due to it containing Clover's attempted suicide.
- Do Not Adjust Your Set: Like with the Killing School Life, the Mastermind hijacks the airwaves and broadcasts DR4 for everyone to see and is airing on every channel.
- Harmful to Minors: Defied. When the Naegi siblings insist on watching the Killing Game to support their sister, Makoto reluctantly lets them on the condition that they let Maki take them out of the room whenever something particularly gruesome comes on.
- Late-Arrival Spoiler: This fanfic does go over the general plot of Danganronpa's Hope's Peak Saga and 999.
- Numbered Sequels: Invoked as the Mastermind calls the Killing Game "Dananronpa 4" after the three previous killing games (the Killing School Life, the Killing School Trip, and the Final Killing Game).
- Generation Xerox:
- The protagonist is the child of Makoto Naegi and Kyoko Kirigiri, and their path is the same as their parents: surviving a killing game and solving murders.
- Strong Family Resemblance:
- The protagonist also looks exactly like Kyoko Kirigiri, down to the single hair braid. The only difference is the brown hair, and an ahoge, which is strangely Kyoko's hair color.
