Yeah, we're thinking He's Back!.

John Wick is dead. He expected that much to happen in his line of work. What he didn't expect was being reborn into a world of superheroes. In spite of trying to keep his new identity of Izuku Midorya out of trouble, trouble keeps finding him. It seems like He's Back!, whether he likes it or not...

Cras Vivere Para Bellum is a series of fanfiction that asks a simple question: What If? John Wick was reincarnated as Izuku Midorya?

The answer, on the other hand, is very complicated.

You can find the first fic in the series, Si Vis Pacem, here.

Cras Vivere Para Bellum provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Hitoshi Shinsou (who is Happily Adopted by Aizawa and Present Mic here) is introduced when Izuku rescues him from bullies.
  • Adaptational Personality Change:
    • Izuku, of course, has changed from a Shrinking Violet to John Freakin' Wick.
    • Bakugo has gone from The Bully to a Jerk with a Heart of Gold, primarily thanks to Wick!Izuku serving as his Morality Chain. Compared to him not getting any Rescue Points during the entrance exam in canon, he actually gets five of them here because of that influence. In addition, he actively expresses confidence in Izuku's ability to succeed in the Hero course from day one.
  • Adapted Out: As the tags for the first fic note, Hitoshi replaces Minetta in this fic.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: John stops Bakugo from bullying weaker kids by asking if All Might calls people wimps for having a "weak quirk".
  • Back-Alley Doctor: Since hospitals can refuse to treat Quirkless individuals, several medical clinics catering towards them are Hidden in Plain Sight.
  • Badass Normal: Izuku stays Quirkless in this fic, as he rejected All Might's offer of One For All. Considering that he's still John Wick, this doesn't stop him from kicking ass.
  • Beware the Superman: John declines All Might's offer to be his successor, partially because he fears what he might become given that kind of power.
  • Breather Episode: Chapter 13 involves Hitoshi and Katsuki dragging John to an arcade in between the USJ incident and the Sports Festival.
  • Canon Discontinuity: Word of God states that, due to not being familiar with the game, PAYDAY 2 is not canon to the events of the fic.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: In spite of his claims otherwise, John tends to get into scrapes with villains in order to protect innocent people.
  • Death by Adaptation: The Nomu that All Might would have punched away at the USJ Facility is here killed by John, who is able to target the creature's most obvious weak points in the form of its eyes and brain.
  • The Dreaded: Wick!Izuku has become this to Mustafau's criminal underground, to the point that some who recognize him begin fleeing on sight.
  • I'm Not a Hero, I'm...: Due to his Dark and Troubled Past in his first life, John doubts he can be a hero.
  • Improvised Weapon: Those who have seen John in action note how good he is at utilizing whatever he can get his hands on. During his fight with the Sludge Villain, he gouges one of their eyes out with a pencil.
  • In Spite of a Nail:
    • In spite of John!Izuku advising All-Might on how to properly carry the bottle holding the Sludge Villain, the latter still escapes when he comes to, as a plastic bottle can still be ruptured.
    • Although John!Izuku and Bakugo decline One For All, they still accept All Might's offer to train them.
    • Izuku still saves Ochako from the Zero Pointer during the entrance exam.
  • Loophole Abuse: It is noted that while civilian Quirk users can't legally subdue criminals, the same doesn't hold true for those that are Quirkless. John!Izuku racks up a fair number of captures just while minding his own business, which the local police are okay with as long as he continues to call them about it.
  • Mugging the Monster: At age 11, John and Katsuki get kidnapped by human traffickers. Bad idea.
  • Not Good with Rejection: The middle school first year girl who confessed to John, during his second year, didn't take his rejection well.
  • Oh, Crap!: A large number of the villains that attack the USJ have this moment when they realize that the Viridian Devil of Mustafau is present. Katsuki takes advantage of this to scare them off.
  • Red Baron: Due to John's (multiple) scrapes with villains, he gets the nickname of the Viridian Devil of Mustafau.
  • Title Drop: In chapter one of Si Vis Pacem, when watching a video of All-Might rescuing people, John!Izuku absently says the English translation of the title. "If you wish for peace..."
  • Unluckily Lucky: Bakugo notes that John!Izuku is this, with it causing him to insist that Izuku come to UA just to keep him out of trouble.
