Cheat Codename
. A fanfiction centered around the "Homestar Runner" spinoff "Cheat Commandos", focusing on Reynold's life with Blue Laser.
Cheat Codename provides examples of:
- Air Quotes: Blue Laser moves his stub arms when he calls the Commandos Reynold's "friends".
- Annoying Younger Sibling: Reynold's younger brother smashes his Strong Badman figure out of spite.
- Becoming the Mask:
- Blue Laser tried to manipulate Reynold into becoming his lackey, but he slowly realizes he cares for and values him.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: Blue Laser tells Reynold he'll make sure to get the Commandos in the "next chapter", acknowledging they're in a fanfiction.
- Blue Laser realizes they're eclipsing the Commandos in terms of spotlight despite being the villains. But Reynold reminds him Strong Bad did this with Homestar.
- Broken Pedestal: Reynold looked up to the Commandos every since they protected him from being bullied, but he came to resent them ever since he was treated as inferior by them.
- Can't Live with Them, Can't Live Without Them: Gunhaver misses Reynold despite always mistreating him.
- Eating Pet Food: Reynold mentions his superiors forced him to eat nothing but cat food for a while.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Blue Laser is still the leader of a villainous gang but he learns to deeply care for Reynold.
- Even Evil Has Standards: Blue Laser objects to how mean the others were to Reynold.
- Family-Friendly Firearms: Gunhaver tries to pull out a gun, only to pull out a super soaker. Silent Rip mentions the censorship laws forced them to replace all firearms.
- Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Reynold apologizes for his language before saying he "hates" the Cheat Commandos, but nothing stronger.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Reynold gives one to the Cheat Commandos when they try to apologize to him.
- Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: Gunhaver says "sigh" out loud when he says he misses Reynold.
- Shout-Out: Several of times
- The first chapter has a shout out to the infamous My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fanfiction "Fanfic/Cupcakes". It shows an expy of Pinkie Pie named Rosy Cake killing an expy of Rainbow Dash named Color Rush to bake her blood into a pie.
- A shout-out to the infamous Sonic Sez short where Coconuts runs away from the abusive Dr. Robotnik and is told to return by Sonic.
- "Realizing is part of the fight." Is a parody of "And knowing is half the battle!"
- Reynold's line “Ahh, that was the best one yet, I feel bad for who has to go in there next.” is a parody of a line from Phelous's Beauty and the Beast review.
- Single Tear: Reynold sheds a single tear when Gunhaver pretends to save him.
- Tears of Joy: Reynold sheds a tear of joy when Gunhaver pretends to save him.
- Toilet Humor: Twice
- Strong Bad is forced to sponsor The Poopsmith's cologne before he calls it quits.
- Reynold is about to kill the commandos, but then he has to use the bathroom.
- Who's Laughing Now?: Reynold joins the villains to get back at the Commandos for always bullying him.
- Who Writes This Crap?!: Crack Stuntman thinks the writers of the script made terrible decisions on writing an episode on why you shouldn't run away and later when he comments on how anticlimactic the finale was.
- Worth It: Reunold says being respected for watching "Pony Kitchen" is going to be worth the nightmares it will give him.
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Fightgar disguises himself as Blue Laser and tricks Reynold into thinking he's no longer useful to him.
