Bringing a Pickaxe to a Power Fight
is a Worm and Minecraft SI crossover.
An SI with access to the Minecraft world and Minecraft abilities ends up in Brockton Bay, either growing up there or as a small child. He decides to be a rogue, helping provide needed support to the local PRT and Protectorate as well as give support to any independent hero he comes across.
This fic provides examples of:
- The Ace: Pickaxe is one of the most powerful characters in the story and was so dangerous that Leviathan fought him seriously.
- Adaptation Personality Change: Amy ran away after being adopted by the Dallons, and ended up joining the Underground Orphanage. She ends up a more cheerful girl, more willing to use the full range of her powers.
- Adaptational Villainy: Sophia Hess is a villain called Gravity Master, a Tinker who specializes in gravity effects. She later tries to steal Armsmaster's Totem, and he defeats her, forcing her into the Protectorate.
- The Dreaded: Pickaxe became a figure to be feared after the Tunnel War.
- Dropping the Bombshell: In a negotiation with the President of the US and Chief Director Costa-Brown, Pickaxe reveals that he is aware of the existence of Cauldron, Costa-Brown's identity as Alexandria, and their experiment in Brockton Bay. He then goes on to say that he'll support them on the condition that they leave Earth Delta alone.
- Evil Power Vacuum: Beating Empire 88 did not immediately fix any problems. Instead, this caused a power vacuum that both the local gangs and others from outside took advantage of.
- Famed In-Story: Pickaxe is a legendary rogue who single-handedly dealt the E88 an irreparable blow, turning the once prominent gang into a shadow of its former self.
- Great Offscreen War: The Tunnel War, a battle between the E88 and Pickaxe. This battle resulted in the decimation of the E88 and Pickaxe becoming a figure to be feared by all who lived the event.
- How the Mighty Have Fallen: The E88 was once a powerful gang in Brockton Bay, with over ten capes and over a thousand mundane gangsters. Then they picked a fight with Pickaxe. By the end of their conflict, thirteen capes ended up being killed, with nearly three hundred low-level minions killed or crippled.
- Lethal Lava Land: As Tattletale and Coil's Mercenaries find out, the Nether is hot enough to give one heatstroke after only a few minutes' exploration, filled with seas of lava and home to armies of Zombie Pigmen.
- One-Man Army: Pickaxe was the main force that fought back the E88 when the Neo-Nazi gang tried invading his tunnels. Afterwards, he hunted down E88 members for an entire year.
- Orphanage of Love: Pickaxe established the Underground Orphanage, a place where homeless kids he picks up can live and be happy.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here:
- Leet and Uber leg it when the latter realizes the former uploaded a video showing that Pickaxe's allies have access to Totems of Undeath (objects that revive you instantly if you are killed). True to their fears, Pickaxe sets out to destroy them as soon as he finds out the truth.
- Due to the risks facing every independent or rogue cape with a minimal connection to him after the discovery of the Totems, Pickaxe leaves for Earth Delta and invites the capes he's supporting to join him. The few that don't are forced to join the Protectorate in order to gain some degree of protection.
- Unknown Rival: The Elite on the East Coast consider Pickaxe to be their biggest rival. Pickaxe himself doesn't get why they do so.
