Bang Bang
by 39midnight on Archive of Our Own is an alternate universe of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc in which friendly neighborhood lucky student, Nagito Komaeda, shot Junko Enoshima without an entire speech played out in front of her. This leads to a very different progression of events in the series, seeing as the main villain of the franchise isn't there to make things terrible.
This Danganronpa fanfiction contains examples of:
- Alternate History: The entire course of the series is changed by Enoshima dying before the events of the first game.
- Death by Adaptation: Both Enoshima and Komaeda die much earlier they do in canon. It’s also hinted that Naegi will be killed in Nanami’s place now that Class 78 are the new targets to become the Remnants of Despair.
- Get Out!: Matsuda's reaction when Naegi offers his condolences about his girlfriend's death is a flat "Leave."
- Killed Mid-Sentence: Enoshima only gets through half her taunt before Komaeda shoots her in the face.
- Kill Him Already!: Subverted. No dramatic pause is present, and Komaeda shoots Enoshima before she can do anything to retaliate.
- Major Injury Underreaction: Swapped around, with someone other than the receiver of the injury under-reacting. Kamukura reacts to Enoshima's corpse by doing nothing but sighing.
- The Scream: How Mitarai reacts to Enoshima getting shot.
- Spared by the Adaptation: Enoshima's death immediately saves (unknown to them) the lives of Nanami, Matsuda, and most of Class 78.
- Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: Swapped around roles. It isn't the villain shooting, but rather the villain being shot, which is a much simpler and more straightforward method of death than what ended up killing her in canon.
