  • Aliens Love Human Food: The asari enjoyed eating chocolate.
  • Alternate Universe: The Protheans and Reapers annihilated each other. The Prothean-Reaper war is common knowledge throughout the galaxy in which Reaper remains are uncovered alongside the Protheans. The alien races had reverse-engineered Reaper weapons such as Thanix cannons. However, the threat of Reaper indoctrination still remains as unwary explorers messing with Reaper tech will turn them into Husks. As a result, the Citadel strictly forbid anyone touching Reaper tech.
    • Humanity never discovered the Prothean ruins on Mars due to the Calamity War until the present day.
    • The Batarian Hegemony are made Persona Non Grata by the Citadel and are in civil war against the Free Batarian Republic.
    • Ein Dalton is killed in battle near the Dort Colonies. Without Ein, and no other suitable candidates, the Graze Ein is never put into battle against Tekkadan and is left in storage until someone decide to scrap it.
  • Anti-Mutiny: Dr. Vass and Vorhess are opposed to Dantius for planning to sell out humanity as slave subjects of the Batarian Hegemony. They warned Tekkadan and Teiwaz of her plot and helped them in taking control of the Thrill Seeker and killing Dantius and her collaborators.
  • A Father to His Men: Orga makes it clear to Vass that he genuinely care for everyone in Tekkadan and refuse to put their lives in a hopeless war against powerful foes, especially technologically advanced aliens. Vass is left very pleased to know Orga is worthy of being that kind of leader compare to the other mercenary and military leaders he dealt in Citadel Space.
  • First Contact: An exploration ship, the Thrill Seeker, carrying 150 asari, salarians, and batarians journey to the Solar System and makes first contact with humanity in the form of Tekkadan and Teiwaz. After Kudelia made alien life publicly known to the rest of humanity, the SAU, African Union, and Oceanian Federation formed a unified coalition, the Multi-National Committee on Extraterrestrial Affairs, to handle humanity's interaction with extraterrestrial races and expanding humanity's reach outside the Solar System.
  • My Species Doth Protest Too Much: Some batarians like Vorhess are outright against the dictatorial Batarian Hegemony, and formed the Free Batarian Republic to liberate all batarians from the Hegemony.
  • No Biochemical Barriers: Both humans and the crew of the Thrill Seeker ensure that they do not risk contaminate each other with alien viruses. Both Tekkadan and the Thrill Seeker crew spent most of their time in environmental suits whenever they interact with each other until they culture vaccines.
    • The Raloi are mentioned to had suffered an outbreak of an alien flu virus on their homeworld during their first contact with the galactic community 200 years ago.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: The Thrill Seeker, a decommissioned standard destroyer of the Turian Hierarchy, is consider the most advanced and powerful ship in the Solar System that could, according to Naze, singlehandedly beat the Arianrhod fleet. Humanity soon come to grasp that mass effect technology are way ahead of their technology in which basic civilian shuttles powered by FTL drives can travel between Earth and Mars in extremely short time, whereas it would take months for human ships.
  • Persona Non Grata: Because of Gjallarhorn's role in the massacre in the Dort Colonies, which also inadvertently endangered the alien crew of the Thrill Seeker and jeopardizing humanity's first contact, Earth's nations decided to barred Gjallarhorn from involving itself in any diplomatic matters with aliens and placed on a five-year moratorium involving in research and development of alien technology. Furthermore, the nations revoked Gjallarhorn's property tax exemption for its bases in their territories.
  • Retired Badass: Like Mordin Solus, Dr. Jal Vass is a retired member of the Special Tasks Group.
  • We Come in Peace — Shoot to Kill: Captain Milena Dantius and her inner circle are agents of the Batarian Hegemony and they came to the Solar System to scout for potential batarian expansionism. They pretend to make peaceful contact with humanity in order to learn more about their species and technological capabilities, their strength and weaknesses, and relaying this to the Hegemony so they can prepare their invasion of Earth and its colonies. Fortunately, Dr. Vass is opposed to their plot and warned Tekkadan and Teiwaz.
