Fanfic / Abraxas (Shanatical)

Go To

Abraxas by shanatical is a gen-fic crossover with Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro and Katekyō Hitman Reborn! Official Author Summary: Three years after parting with Neuro, Katsuragi Yako meets another strange man with a sharp suit and expensive shoes, and her world is upended. This time, however, that’s a little more literal.

Tropes:

  • Acceptable Breaks from Canon: Well when one canon doesn't have another canon's differences due to the addition of 'regional ingredients', they make up for each other. Yako's paternal half-uncle is Sawada Iemitsu. This interestingly enough leads to a better relationship between Tsuna and Iemitsu, due to Katsuragi Seiichi guiding Iemitsu. Tsuna sees his father as an actual person rather than a caricature for the first time after Yako's father's funeral.
    • Yako's a Sky Flame with intuition. Not Vongola Intuition, but still better to understand.
    • Sai is alive.
    • Neuro doesn't exist anymore. So did the Evil Bloodline Incidents for that matter.
    • The Japanese crime scene is different from what Godai remembers. Godai is particularly unhappy with this.
    • Due to the aforementioned magical crime-world, which for some reason does not extend very deeply in Japan, the police keep a much more weathered eye on the comings and goings of domestic criminal syndicates, which means the Cyber Divisions work larger, more detailed case files. Higuchi is particularly unhappy about this.
  • And the Adventure Continues: This story starts off after the end of chapter 202, where Neuro's appearance sparks off implications that results in the world destroying itself. Kawahira intervenes by merging the two worlds together, with interesting results for Yako both personally and on a professional level.
  • Animal Motif:
    • "It bounces back, before darting in again and again, like some cat single-mindedly focused on a bird behind a glass door." Yako on Sai.
  • Anti-Hero: Neuro (though he does not appear).
  • Anti-Villain: Aya and surprisingly, Sai.
  • Applied Phlebotinum: Kawahira and Wonomichi's "Interdimensional Time-sliding and You!" is done in HTML, hot pink glittering letters. The explanation can only be described as this.
  • Bad Ass Normal: Yako devours all of Bianchi's cooking. Also, why Reborn respects her.
  • Bad Ass Pacifist: Yako is already one by the time this fic starts at the end of MTNN. However, she clearly demonstrates this by Chapter 3, when she confronts Nezu-sensei.
    • He turns, and finds Yako smiling earnestly at Nezu with bright, bright eyes. Higuchi is about half a meter further to the left than he had originally been and looks to be attempting to scoot even further without being seen, very obviously hiding behind his tablet as he goes. But Tsuna doesn’t care about him, because Yako is still talking, and she’s not even looking at Tsuna. Just Nezu.
  • Big Eater: Yako
    • And then she swings back to gratitude, because Wonomichi hands her what is basically a cardboard barrel of popcorn.
    • He stares at the massive, tiered boxed-lunch that she hefts up. It spans from chest-height to just below her knee.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Precisely what happens at Chapter 202 / Chapter 1 of Abraxas. Neuro indirectly causing the destruction of the world.
  • Black-and-Grey Morality: On top of the Mafia, we have Yako, friend of all criminals and victims. She can sympathise with everyone, even if she can't agree with them. Wins her brownie points with Reborn, much to Bianchi's jealousy.
  • Butt-Monkey: Nezu and all other teachers go through this when Akane hands over the results of their background check to the principal. The school ends up closed while the underqualified teachers are investigated.
  • Character Development: Yako's is shown. Through her maintenance of good relations with her former clients, we see her actively engaging in detective/negotiating work, which is a far cry from the reluctance that she had earlier. Tsuna might also be experiencing this, as a result of Yako's intervention. She may have also absorbed a few traits from the good detective in her vindictiveness.
    • He’s going to make Tsuna apologize to his own cousin for being worthless, the very first day they really got the chance to meet.
  • The Coroner Doth Protest Too Much: After Yako's father's murderer dies in prison, no one bothers how they managed to kill him in the first place. The reader knows that Iemitsu's behind the hit.
    • Takeda Keitaro, the man who killed Yako’s father, was brutally murdered in a locked prison cell mere months after being arrested, and his case is still unsolved to this day. Yako is… Yako does not actually know how to feel about that, so she tables that particular discrepancy for the moment in favor of more pressing details.
  • Continuation Fic: Of Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. Starts off in the Daily Life Arc after Yamamoto's suicide but before Kokuyo.
  • Deconstruction: Bianchi loves Reborn. She wants to form the image of her grandmother and an adult Reborn. Pretending to fall in love with him brings back the happier times with her mother. Too bad the reason behind the deaths of her grandmother and aunt happen to be Reborn as well...
  • Dissonant Serenity: Sai is more or less the very incarnation of this trope. Scares the life out of Bianchi when her Storm Flames fail to melt his skin away, and instead warps them over her wrists. Yako chases him off with bribes of Kawahira's location and choosing his/her own room at the flat.
  • Evil Diva / Musical Assassin: Aya Asia. She can blow your brain with her song. Don't worry, I'm just kidding, though she's not as malevolent as most examples. Tsuna is distinctly worried about the "convicted murderess" showing up at his doorstep.
  • Fate Worse than Death: World ending anyone? Yako is too distracted about the world being destroyed when Kawahira offers her this choice...
  • Humans Are Special: Probably why Kawahira decides to go through the trouble of merging Yako's world with Reborn is partially because of this. He hasn't worked this hard for a thousand years.
  • In the Blood: Yako and Iemitsu's similarity in appearance is attributed to their shared grandmother.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: That threatening of Bianchi? Sai overheard that Yako was being 'bullied' by her...
  • Lethal Chef: Bianchi? Meet Yako's iron stomach.
  • Meitantei: Yako slowly reveals superb talents at reading human intention over the course of the manga. This translates to her work as Negotiator, someone who can solve the mysteries in people's hearts; preferring to help the living instead of avenging the dead.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Yako when dealing with Nezu. She describes Tsuna's possible future under the nose of an increasingly pale Nezu.
  • Patchwork Fic: More like an entire universe!
  • Plot-Sensitive Snooping Skills: Akane does background checks, rearranges Yako's appointment and keeps in contact with Wonomichi. Star secretary of the year, anyone?
  • Prehensile Hair: Akane used to consist of nothing but living hair. Now she's a living copy of Hibari/Fon.
  • Your Favorite: Surprisingly, Yako's this for Reborn. Tsuna is naturally horrified.
