A Series of Fortunate Events

Saki Yoshida survived her drug overdoses; she moved on with her life and raised her daughter in peace. She eventually discovers that karma does get her dues.
A Series of Fortunate Events provides examples of:
- Birds of a Feather: Saki Yoshida forged a strong friendship with a woman named Chinami based on their similarities, like the fact that they are both single mothers who their parents threw out.
- Belated Happy Ending: The story begins with Saki having achieved hers, being able to make a good life for herself and her daughter Hana. Saki was able to clean herself up from her drug addiction, got a nice apartment for herself and her daughter, got herself a job, and her daughter is going to school, and it appears that she's making enough money to support herself. Saki even made a friend with another single mother at her apartment complex, Chinami, finally getting what she had wanted at the start of the manga.
- Easily Forgiven: Averted. While Saki is not angry or resentful towards her mother for throwing her out of the house and believing her father, who had forced Saki to sleep with him, over her, she is not interested in forgiving her either because of her actions, with the love and trust Saki had in her mother gone.
- First Friend: Chinami, a single mother that lives in the same apartment complex as Saki Yoshida, became her first friend when she moved into her apartment.
- Innocently Insensitive: Chinami sees a beautiful and revealing dress and suggests Saki gets to dress for herself. Chinami, unaware of Saki's past of being a prostitute and in abusive relationships, does not notice how uncomfortable Saki is with the dress because of how revealing it is.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Saki Yoshida's mother threw her out of her home when her husband lied to her about being seduced by Saki when in fact, he molested and forced her to sleep with him. When her husband accidentally reveals the truth while drunk, she's naturally horrified and spends years living with her guilt. Unfortunately for her, Saki isn't willing to forgive her.
- What the Hell, Hero?: While Saki does not feel anger or resentment towards her mother, she still makes it clear that the bridge between the two has been completely burnt when they encounter each other again while Saki is grocery shopping with her daughter.Saki Yoshida's Mother: "Saki, please! I wish I knew the truth earlier. I would've never kicked you out, dear."*Saki shook her head, holding back tears.*Saki Yoshida: "You... You left me when I needed you the most. I always came to you whenever I was sad. And... I trusted you. I'm glad that you know now, but... I can't. Not in front of Hana."
