Avatar: Legend of the Guardian is a Avatar: The Last Airbender Fan Fic written by Author of the Insane.

It follows the storyline of the show closely, with the addition of the Guardian, a being with a portion of the Light Spirit Raava's power who's duty is to find and protect the Avatar while they train and prepare for their duty. The story follows the latest Guardian, a young Earth Kingdom woman named Min, as she helps Aang prepare to put an end to the Hundred Year War while struggling with her own conflicting duties to family and her destiny.

Currently under construction.

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Heroism:
  • Cover-Blowing Superpower: Min poses as a non-bender and fights using swords. In reality, she's a firebender and initially only uses it when nobody's looking until she's forced to break it out in "The Chase".
  • Dead Person Impersonation: "The Chase" reveals that Min is actually Xia, Zuko's twin sister. The next chapter, "The Princess and the Guardian," establishes that she was granted the Guardian mantle by the actual Min, and took on her identity to avoid persecution by the other nations for being the Fire Nation princess.
  • Exhaustion-Induced Idiocy: In "The Chase." When Team Avatar discovers Xia's true identity, they violently reject her and depart. Once they manage to get some sleep and have some time to think things over, with help from Toph, it's clear they would have been more willing to hear her out and listen to what she had to say had Azula not been chasing them and running them ragged for two days solid.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Arrogant Kung-Fu Girl she may be, but in "The Princess and the Guardian," Toph makes a very valid point when she points out to the rest of Team Avatar that just because Min/Xia is Fire Nation royalty doesn't automatically make her evil. She makes them think through all of the times Xia helped them and others out, and points out she most likely hid her true identity from them for so long because she feared they'd distrust and reject her, which is exactly what happened when they did find out. Aang, Katara, and Sokka even acknowledge she's right and kick themselves over it.
  • Mark of the Supernatural: The Guardian is marked by a tattoo consisting of "symbols older than time itself" on their arm. This also allows them to sense and track the Avatar.
  • Passing the Torch: Chapter 29 reveals that the "Min" the story has been following is actually Xia, the sister of Zuko and Azula, who has taken the role of the Avatar's Guardian from the real Min, and has also taken her name to hide her true identity.
  • Properly Paranoid: Min hides her identity as Princess Xia and a Firebender to the rest of Team Avatar, fearing they may end up rejecting her afterwards. When her identity is outed by Azula and Zuko in "The Chase", they reject her and leave her behind with Zuko and an injured Iroh just as she feared, with Katara outright assaulting her. In the next chapter, Toph is the one who gets through to them, pointing out that Xia never did anything that would hint at her being evil, and their reactions to the reveal did nothing but justify all of her fears.
  • Rage Breaking Point: In "The Crossroads of Destiny," Xia initially tries to defend herself to a suspicious Katara, but when Katara declares that she should have known better and as the Fire Lord's daughter, things like deceit are in her blood, she snaps and stuns Katara speechless by revealing what Ozai is really like as a father, up to and including his burning Zuko's face and banishing him.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Toph calls out the rest of Team Avatar for violently rejecting Min/Xia based on their assumptions that she's evil like Azula and Ozai just because she's a Fire Nation princess. She points out Min/Xia had been nothing but helpful to them, and if she did keep her identity secret, it was likely due to personal fear of being distrusted and rejected by the group. Team Avatar doing exactly that validated all of her fears. Aang, Katara, and Sokka acknowledge she's right and kick themselves over it.
  • Wizards Live Longer: The Guardian is noted to be incredibly Long-Lived. The real Min is over a hundred years old, having known Avatar Roku and Fire Lord Sozin personally.
