Like its inspiration, there are some contestants on the show that have gained unexpected amounts of popularity.
- Balloon, despite originally intended as a Jerkass, is popular with the fans thanks to the fact that he had potential to become a better character, or an Alternative Character Interpretation that he only acted strict to help his team out, as there were some moments where he wasn't being as mean, as seen in "One Shot Wonder", where he actually was only being strict to help his team out, if not rather mean to them for that, but he was eliminated for being a jerk to his team* , but this led to him being focused on season two.
- Bow, who joined halfway through the first season, is loved for her affirmation with chairs. Which makes her death all the more depressing.
- The alternate contestants from "Alternate Reality Show" are pretty popular.
- Downplayed for Nick-Le. He isn't as popular as the other characters on this list, but he has still gotten a small following of fans.
- Yin-Yang. He's a unique idea of two characters combined in a single body, Yin's problems dealing with Yang and the fact that he was the most unique characters who still somehow blends in with the show. When he was a recommended character at the end of the first season, he was surely voted into the second season for this, and come time for voting in contestants for Season 3, Yin-Yang received the most votes of any contestant. (Sans Lightbulb, who was disqualified for already being in Season 2). During Season 3 itself, whenever he was up for elimination, Yin-Yang won the viewer immunity vote every single time, it eventually got to the point where the viewer immunity vote had to be scrapped just to ensure that Yin-Yang wouldn't have guaranteed immunity for the rest of the season, which Silver Spoon points out in the episode after the viewer immunity vote is scrapped.Silver Spoon: Oh, boo-hoo, no more PERMANENT SHIELD!
- Suitcase started out as a minor character, but her woobiness of being afraid that came through Character Development made her popular.
- Paper was a minor character thanks to making a mistake that got him eliminated early, but he was popular with the fans enough to rejoin just a few episodes later.
- Tissues is this! He started as being hated and disgusted by fans because of his (literally) snotty ways, leading to him being the first one eliminated from the game. But, now he is becoming more and more popular amoung fans and many find him to be so adorable and have sympathy for him because of his sickness: The "Condishawn". He became even more sympathetic when it is revealed in "Everything's A-OJ" that he was trapped in a closet for several months and that he was all alone in the closet for the first month he was in there.
