D.L.D. High is a High School AU of DLD. It's a Teen Drama with a focus on Queer Romance.

Mainly, now all of the characters from D.L.D. are teenagers in high school,...oh, and all of them are one way or another LGBT+. The first episode followed Luke's Distaff Counterpart Lucy as she just started high school, which to her surprise is full of queer students. This introduced a lot of characters and their relationships, more of which will be detailed in the trope list:

  • Cast Full of Gay: ALL of the characters are now either gay, bi, or heteroflexible.
  • Coming Of Age Queer Romance: The central focus of the series, though there are a few straight relationships.
  • Coming-Out Story: Thompson in the episode Gay Boyfriend, I Don't Really Care That You Are Queer, except it's from his girlfriend Maiya's point of view; mainly she tries to get him to come out of the closet, whether by watching a marathon of gay movies (Love, Simon, Brokeback Mountain, The Birdcage and Red, White & Royal Blue) or by playing "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga while they're making out. He eventually does come out of the closet.
  • Fun with Acronyms: D.L.D. now stands for Dykes, Lesbos & Drag Queens, while S.G.T. stands for Sapphics, Gays & Trans-folk. Both are rivaling gay-lesbian alliances.
  • Genre Shift: The original series was a Horror Comedy, but this is a high school queer Dramedy.
  • Heteronormative Crusader: New character Betty-Sue Gretchen, the most homophobic person in school.
  • High School AU: Now all the characters are teenagers in high school.
  • Idiosyncratic Episode Naming: Episodes have song lyrics as their titles, some then having really long titles.
  • Love Dodecahedron: Luke and Prescott are dating, until Prescott starts dating Emma, Tina is in love with Luke, Lisa is her ex who still has feelings for her even though she's dating Ammy, and that's just barely scratching the surface.
  • Stranger in a Strange School: Subverted. The series now follows Lucy who had just come to terms with her sexuality, dealing with the craziness that is her new school, where 90 % of the student body is LGBT+.
  • School Newspaper News Hound: Martina, who's the school website news hound.
  • Student Council President: Yoko, whose being a lesbian only helped her get to that position in the episode What Happened to the Dream of a Girl President?.
  • Teen Pregnancy:
    • In I Made Up My Mind, I'm Keeping My Baby, just as Prescott leaves Luke for Emma, she ends up pregnant with his child. Since Good Girls Avoid Abortion, Emma and Prescott decide to raise the baby, much to Luke's chagrin.
      • Adults Are Useless: Emma's parents' reaction to her getting pregnant: "We're getting grandchildren!". Prescott's parents' reaction: "That's what you get for not staying with Luke!".
    • At the end of the same episode, we find out Lisa is also pregnant, with a boy from another school. She however, decides to get an abortion.
      • Abortion Fallout Drama: Subverted in a Black Comedy example: Lisa is caught by Ammy at the abortion clinic where Lisa confesses she slept with another boy and had an abortion. This angers Ammy tremendously... until Lisa points out, what is Ammy doing at the abortion clinic? As it turns out, she slept with that same boy, and is also getting an abortion.
    Ammy: So... we're even?
Lisa: Myeah. "Sisterhood of the Terminated Fetus"!
  • Trans Tribulations: Zack (formerly Zoe), while accepted by the majority of the school, still has to face transphobia from Betty-Sue and some Terfs, not to mention his dating life is also on the skids. The episode I Tried to be a Boy, I Tried to be a Girl, his Day in the Limelight, explores all of this.
