Tropes common in Hanabusa's works

  • Creator Thumbprint:
    • Many of her works are about wealthy aristocrats living luxurious lives, in contemporary time periods. Time Princess takes this to the extreme by having the main character travel back to the Ancient Greek, French Revolution and Heiian period thanks to a magical trinket.
    • The protagonists tend to have blonde hair, even if they're fully Japanese, like Hikari from Heart no Aozora Yohou or Wakaba Morino from Kirameki Green Age.
    • The love interest is a Gorgeous Gaijin (see Foreign Fanservice below).
  • Flowers of Femininity: Flowers are prominent in her artwork depicting female characters, especially her adaptations of Western novels. Lady!! also has them as an important plot point as Lynn uses them to gain Sarah's friendship.
  • Foreign Fanservice:
    • Arthur Drake Brighton (Lady!!) is a British boy who many girls (Lynn, Sarah, Mary) swoon over. He ends up with Sarah, Lynn's feelings move to his little brother Edward and he also lets down Mary nicely.
    • Alex (Kirameki Green Age) is a handsome American athlete with blonde hair and green eyes. He's a contender for Wakaba's heart alongside Go Aranami.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Lynn, Hikari, Mirai and Wakaba have blonde hair and are nothing short of kind, heroic ladies.
  • Love Triangle: The Love Dodecahedron in Lady!! is so big that the one you see in the anime is actually the toned-down version. Kirameki Green Age is also about a schoolgirl juggling two love interests.
  • Surreal Horror:
    • Cursed Doll, starts with the funeral of the head of the family. Suddenly, their young grandchild begins speaking of ominous prophecies, each of them coming true amongst the fight for the familial inheritance.
    • Queen Bee is about a girl named Mika who remains optimistic and cheery, even after her older sister Yumi is stung by bees and died. This makes her best friend Kaori suspicious, especially since after Yumi's death, Mika grows more and more beautiful and is always surrounded by bees...
  • Uptown Girl:
    • Lady!!: George Russell, an English noble, falls in love with an ordinary Japanese woman who works as his interpreter.
    • Engage Kiss centers around a wealthy son who falls for his family chauffeur's daughter.
    • Time Princess: Mirai travels back in time to many pre-modern time periods and falls in love with a Heiian Japanese Emperor.
