Choi Jinri (March 29, 1994 - October 14, 2019), better known by her stage name Sulli, was a South Korean singer and actress. In 2005, she had her first role as an actress at the age of 11 in the television drama Ballad of Seodong, and later debuted as a member of the K-pop girl group f(x) in 2009.

Controversial for breaking societal normsnote , Sulli was the frequent target of hate comments and malicious rumors for several years. She would eventually respond to her critics as a co-host of the short-lived television series The Night of Hate Comments.

On October 14, 2019, Sulli was found dead in her home from an apparent suicide. Her passing garnered international attention and spawned a wave of concern about cyberbullying in the media.

Sulli provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Avant-Garde Music: "Dorothy" certainly fits into this category.
  • Child Popstar: Debuted as a singer at 15, four years after beginning her career as a child actress.
  • Idol Singer: As a member of f(x).
  • It's All Our Fault: Entertainment Weekly's reaction to the news of her death.
  • Loony Fan: Had an infamous fan-turned-anti-fan named Jinnabit, who initially tried to shut down any fansite of Sulli besides hers, and eventually lashed out when Sulli's relationship with Choiza was revealed.
  • One-Album Singer: Sulli only released one solo project before her passing, the three-song EP Goblin.
  • Singer-Songwriter: Wrote the lyrics for all three of her songs on Goblin.
  • Split Personality: The "Goblin" music video portrays a character with a dissociative disorder.
  • Stage Name: Sulli for Choi Jinri.
  • Statuesque Stunner: While 170 cm (5'7") isn't abnormally tall, she towered over several of her much shorter colleagues.
  • Talky Bookends: "Goblin" begins and ends with Sulli's character discussing her split personalities.
