Paul Shane, born George Frederick Speight, (19 June 1940 — 16 May 2013), was a British actor best known for playing Ted Bovis in Hi-de-Hi!.
After a career as a pub singer, he started to play small parts on TV in The '70s. In May 1979, Jimmy Perry noticed him in an episode of Coronation Street and so cast him as Ted Bovis in Hi-de-Hi!. When the series ended in 1988, Perry cast him in his new series, You Rang, M'Lord?, which aired until 1993.
In 1991, he starred in Very Big Very Soon as Harry James and in the late '90s, he played Jack Skinner in Oh, Doctor Beeching!.
He died at the age of 72.
