Kenya Barris (born August 9, 1974) is an American screenwriter, producer, director, and actor. Barris is best known for creating the sitcom black•ish, and its spin-offs. Barris also produced and written films such as Girls Trip and Little.
In 2018, Barris left ABC after a dispute about a pulled episode of black•ish for Netflix, where he produced several shows including #blackAF, a series that he also acted in. In 2021, he left Netflix in favor of Paramount Global and helped launch BET Studios.
