Associated Tropes:
- Butt-Monkey: Ribbed by his bandmates for his flirtatious nature and spendthrift habits. In the band’s commercial for Chili’s, the guys are stranded on a deserted island singing about wanting baby back ribs. A helicopter drops a crate of ribs onto the beach, and the crate lands on top of Joey. There's also his embracing of "Fat One," a nickname born on a mispronunciation of his last name.
- Fake Nationality: Joey plays a Greek American in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, though he is Italian in real life.
- Friendly Rivalry: With the Backstreet Boys. Very friendly.
- Fun T-Shirt: Take your◊ pick.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Lance Bass.
- Supergroup: A member of BackSync, a quartet he formed with Lance, and AJ and Nick of the Backstreet Boys.
