Jeff Baena (born June 29, 1977 in Miami, Florida) is an American filmmaker, having worked as screenwriter and director.
After graduating from NYU Film School, Baena worked as a production assistant to Robert Zemeckis, and went on to work as an assistant editor for David O. Russell. Baena and Russell worked on four screenplays together, including Baena's first solo writing credit, I ♡ Huckabees, which Russell directed. Baena also started writing the script for Life After Beth around the same time, though it would be a decade before it became a complete film. Since his first intended directorial debut Joshy hit production issues, Life After Beth became his debut as both a writer and director. Since then, he's made more movies, primarily indie dramas and comedies.
Baena started dating Aubrey Plaza in 2011; she announced that they were married in 2021.
