Carmen Margarita Zapata (July 15, 1927) was an American actress and activist. Born to Mexican father and an Argentine mother, Zapata was highly involved with the Chicano movement of the 1960s and 70s. As an actress she was best known for Boulevard Nights, Santa Barbara, and The Sleepy Time Gal.
Juan Carlos, the King of Spain, knighted Zapata in 1990. She was married for six years to Ron Friedman. She died of heart failure at the age of 86.
