CMON started out in 2001 as CoolMiniOrNot.com, a website for posting images of miniatures that they created for others to rate them.

The company was incorporated in 2009, CMON started out selling miniature figurines and published its first Board Game, Super Dungeon Explore, in 2011.

In 2012, it launched a campaign on Kickstarter for it's first in-house developed game, the zombie Adventure Board Game, Zombicide. The campaign was a rousing success with 5,258 backers giving $781,597, a whopping 3,907% of the goal of $20,000. This set a precedent for a string of successful Kickstater campaigns, managing to raise millions in funding for their products.
