"Your sorry plan to kill this woman was just a dream... but the happy reality is I'm going to kill you all!"

Total Chaos is the name of a 90s Teen Titans Bat Family Crossover between Deathstroke The Terminator, New Titans and the brand new title Team Titans. The storyline occurred immediately after the events of the long-running Titans storyline Titans Hunt.

The storyline focuses on the Team Titans, a renegade group of teenage rebels who have time-travelled back from an apocalyptic future ruled by evil Lord Chaos, who is the son of Donna Troy and Terry Long. They seek to try and kill him as a child so that they could prevent their future from existing.

Total Chaos provides examples of:

  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Near the end of the crossover, Donna Troy's powers turn her into a giantess or a literal titan, clad in golden armour.
  • Big Bad: Lord Chaos is the tyrannical ruler of the future reality, travels back in time, menaces his own mother, kidnaps his baby self, and tries to murder both the Titans and Team Titans.
  • Deus ex Machina: In the final part, Donna Troy, in deity form, attacks Chaos inside his pyramid, to a standstill. The Titans of myth, suddenly, teleport everyone to the "home of the gods" and the battle rages on. In the final moments, Donna realizes having too much godlike power, while still in mortal form, is too dangerous, and wishes to be rid of them. The gods fulfill her wish, remove her powers and take Lord Chaos with them.
  • Evil Redhead: Lord Chaos is an orange-haired adult and the Big Bad of the event.
  • Expy: Lord Chaos is very obviously one of both Cable. Ironically enough, he isn't one of Apocalypse since this storyline actually predates Age of Apocalypse.
  • A God Am I: Lord Chaos keeps declaring he is a god every other appearance.
  • Kid from the Future: A strange variation: Lord Chaos comes to the present from his future reality just before his mother, Donna Troy, discovers she is pregnant. He then kidnaps her and "helps" in the delivery of his present/baby self.
  • Mama Bear: Heroine Donna Troy does not take lightly to anyone menacing her baby.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Near the end of the crossover, Donna Troy has a glimpse of humanity and decides to have her godlike power removed, since her mind cannot fathom the depth of such powers yet.
  • My Future Self and Me: Lord Chaos travels back in time and kidnaps a baby version of himself, Bobby Long, who has just been born by heroine Donna Troy.
  • Mystical Pregnancy: During this period (before retcons and such), Donna Troy's story established that she was given powers by the Titans of myth. This altered her biology so much, that her son, Bobby Long, simply begins to develop inside her in what appears to be hours.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: Although Jericho was killed back in Titans Hunt, the effects that is has upon Slade are first shown here.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: The Team Titans seeks to prevent the Lord Chaos-ruled timeline.
  • Star-Spangled Spandex: Lord Chaos wears a toga shaped like the cosmos. It is actually his mother's, Donna, old costume, which he repurposed for him after he killed her.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: In the Deathstroke issues, Wintergreen, Deathstroke's ally, visits Madame Sweet-Lilli in her brothel and sights a white-haired girl addressing the Madame as "mother". Wintergreen then wonders if the girl's hair colour is natural, which would make her a possible daughter of his friend Slade Wilson. Eventually, he will be proven right.
  • Terminator Twosome: In an alternate future, Troia gave birth to a child with godly powers, who became an adult instantly, killed his mother and conquered the world. The Team Titans go back in time to kill Donna Troy and prevent the existence of Lord Chaos. And the one who also goes back in time, to stop them and save Lord Chaos is... Lord Chaos himself.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: From the very first part of the crossover, the storyline divides its attention in two fronts: the Titans hunting for Deathstroke to bring him to justice, and the future Team Titan's attempts to kill Donna Troy and her baby before he is born.
  • We ARE Struggling Together: The Titans and Team Titans join forces to stop Lord Chaos, but are obviously not too happy about it.

"Now, I want to go home with my family and friends.
I've got a new life waiting, and I don't want to miss a moment of it."
