Star Wars: The High Republic - Eye of the Storm is a two issue Star Wars limited series published by Marvel Comics. It's written by Charles Soule with art by Guillermo Sanna and color art by Jim Campbell.

The series serves as the final installment of Phase 1 of Star Wars: The High Republic. It focuses on the villainous Marchion Ro and his backstory.

Tropes in this comic include:

  • Asshole Victim:
    • Shalla Ro, Marchion's grandmother, sees her grandson simply as a weapon of revenge and is the one who originally formed the Nihil while keeping Mari San Tekka as a prisoner. No tears were shed when Asgar kills her.
    • Asgar, who treats his son as a pawn. He even threatens to leave him for dead when he disobeys him and uses Mari San Tekka to empower the Nihil. When he is found bleeding out, Marchion is perfectly happy to watch him bleed to death and Tempest Runners are more concerned about Marchion’s ability to provide the Paths.
  • Big, Screwed-Up Family: The Ro's are a family of schemers ready to murder each other at first convenience. Sadly, it seems to be standard for Evereni families.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: After telling Obratuk Glii in intricate detail about how he came out on top of the Republic and Jedi, Marchion decides to treat himself by feeding Obratuk to one of the Nameless, a death that leaves Obratuk as a calcified husk with a look of terror on his face.
  • Eldritch Location: The homeworld of the Nameless, with Marchion's description making it sound less like a planet and more like an Eldritch Abomination in the shape of a planet. Not only is the planet incredibly strong in the Force, the planet itself seems to actively be trying to kill Marchion and his cult when they enter the atmosphere.
  • Evil Gloating: Part 2 of the comic shows Marchion gloating to a captive Jedi Master Obratuk Glii over his defeat of the Jedi. The individual scenes are also titled in ways that are effectively mocking the Republic, the Jedi, and even the reader.
  • The Reveal: We learn the name of Marchion's species and their history. They are called Evereni and they attempted to live in harmony with their planet. However the planet’s harsh climate and government corruption resulted in centuries-long war, survivors of which became distrustful and treacherous, even towards their families. They eventually left their planet and were branded as outlaws, resulting in the few survivors learning to mask their treachery.
  • The Unreveal: Despite the above mentioned reveal, the history Marchion's family has with the Jedi and Nameless stays a mystery. Given that Marchion is the one narrating the story, this is deliberate on his part (the scene showing where he got the Nameless lampshades this by calling it "In which the Source of Marchion Ro's Weapon against the Jedi is Revealed, While its Name and Nature Remain Obscured.")
  • Villain Episode: For Marchion Ro, focusing on his backstory and motivations.
