Star Wars: The Blade is a four-issue comic mini-series published by Marvel Comics, as part of Phase II of The High Republic multimedia project. It was written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Marco Castiello and Jim Campbell.

As the Jedi and Republic explore the galactic frontier, many worlds face danger from pirates, mercenaries, and other forces who seek to take advantage of the High Republic's age of exploration and expansion. Jedi Masters Porter Engel and Barash Silvain travel the frontier as gunslinger Jedi, seeking to protect the innocent and keep the peace. When called to the world of Gansevor, known as "the planet of knives", to end a war between two rival city states, the two Jedi find a conspiracy that will take all their skill as Jedi to unravel but leave their relationship to the Force and each other forever changed...

Tropes in this comic include:

  • A Day in the Limelight: The series focuses on Porter Engel's backstory after he was a supporting character during Phase I of The High Republic.
  • Downer Ending: The series ends with a significant number of civilians in Firevale dead, the armies of both Firevale and Bethune with heavy casualties, and General Viess escaping after escalating the situation beyond the fake siege it was supposed to be. Barash's failure to see through Sicatra's plot causes her to withdraw from active duty in the Order and leaves Porter uncertain on how to proceed without her just as he gets assigned to another mission on Bardotta.
  • False Flag Operation: The truth behind Firevale and Bethune's conflict turns out to be a plot by Prince Colden of Firevale and his new wife, Princess Sicatra of Bethune. They intended to use the siege to get Colden's mother to abdicate, at which point Colden would "negotiate" a pre-planned agreement that would open Firevale's resources up for trading and bring it into closer relationships with the rest of the planet economically and politically.
  • Meaningful Name: Gansevor isn't known as the planet of knives for nothing. At least its rulers and soldiers all carry knives and they are the traditional weapon to be used in response to betrayal or treachery.
  • Sequel Hook: The series ends with the Jedi Council informing Porter of a situation on Bardotta where they believe his skills could be of use, setting up a future mini-series titled The Broken Blade.
